JimmyNeutron Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Starting off fresh install patched to ver 2.00.10 and during Tutorial I noticed the list of my Officers is messed up. I now have this post where I think it belongs (sorry SC) and have a link to a screenshot that works (sorry again SC) Web Page (with image) The screwey part is obvious in screenshot. Ideas as to what I did?
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 You have a corrupted install or game. And I can bet my last dime you were using the quick save feature - though NOWHERE in the tutorial did I say to use it. The game date/time tells me that the game has been running for a while (the start time for the game is 21:00)- and quite possibly was from an unsupported save game format. Dunno. And if you really wanted to research the problem, you would have started a new game and checked this data again. Instead of sending in a screen cap of game thats almost an hour and half in. You're on your own. Do send us a postcard when you get where you're going.

Didn't know there was a quick save, but that is not to say I didn't press it while I was fumbling around trying to learn all the key press combos. quote: The game date/time tells me that the game has been running for a while (the start time for the game is 21:00)- and quite possibly was from an unsupported save game format. No big deal tho, I just know what each station op looks like so I go by the pic. Thanx anyhoo. ----EDIT---- Here is my postcard from the edge. The edge of the land of "hey that is and isn't my fault". I screwed up when patching. Some of the links on the 3000ad d-load page are links to the wrong patch, so basically I patched 2.00.10 without the 2.00.00. See I know your not supposed to do that and I thought I wasn't. Just didn't pay close enough attention to the file name I was d-loading. Was link from your page so I didn't even really look at it. That'll learn me [ 06-10-2004, 12:03 AM: Message edited by: JimmyNeutron ]
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 *sigh* I dunno what's worse. Someone screwing up and knowing they screwed up and admitting it. Or someone screwing up and then trying to compound the problem - after wasting everyone's time - by making excuses. The files on the downloads page are 100% correct and very descriptive. If you downloaded the wrong file, blame yourself for that; don't blame it on the downloads page.
