Mattman Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 I get a wierd responses from my throttle. It only lets me decelerate and then won't accelerate any higher no matter how far i push it. Any clues as to what might be the problem? [ 07-04-2004, 06:39 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 Not all controllers are supported. If it doesn't work, pick another method of flight control (keyboard or mouse) or buy a stick that works.
street228 Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 My logitec 3 does that, unless I calibrate it in windows, then turn it all the way up...and then load the game. then it will turn up and down, full throttle.... just something u can try...?

I read a review that said the evo works. http://www.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r22252.htm BTW, it also works on battlecruiser me. Any idea what the problem might be? If not can you recommend one? How about the x-25?
Mattman Posted June 17, 2004 Author Report Posted June 17, 2004 just tried my x-45. it has the exact same problem.
street228 Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 did you have them full throttle, before starting the game?...try that!
Mattman Posted June 17, 2004 Author Report Posted June 17, 2004 quote:Originally posted by street: did you have them full throttle, before starting the game?...try that! yes, i've tried that for both of them. i'm trying all suggestions. it seems that the indicator lags greatly behind my throttle movements greatly, then it gets completely lost. its not my cpu or ram either , i'm at 2.53ghz 512 MB ram with an intel MB.

All sticks behave differently. If the review says it works, then you might want to write to the reviewer and ask how he actually got it to work. With some sticks (e.g. my Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold) I find that if you install the tools, calibrate the stick in control panel etc then close the throttle (slam it back) before starting the game, it will work just fine. And if it drifts during the game, you can use the in game calibration (CTRL+ALT+J) to set it by just setting the stick down, slamming the throttle back, then press that calibration key combo once. Try that and lets know how it goes. You're the new Evo guinea pig. EDIT: I just re-read your first post and I think I know what might be causing the confusion!!! Try calibrating the stick from control panel and from within the game as I indicated above. Now. Please read the manual revisions PDF file (the latest version is in the 2.00.11 patch) in Section 6.0 Control Schemes & Joystick Controls sections. I bet your problem is that you have.... Not calibrated your stick in control panelNot calibrated your stick in the game (while starting the game with the throttle back position) as indicated aboveNot gone into Logistix/Power and set engine power to 10 (from the default 5)Not set your thrust factor (after returning from Logistix) to factor 9. Failure to do any/all of above, will mislead you into thinking that your throttle limits are not in synch with the ship's thrust factor. [ 06-17-2004, 05:08 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
Mattman Posted June 18, 2004 Author Report Posted June 18, 2004 Yes, you are correct. I followed those steps and everything seems to be as it should. The manual is a lot to digest all at once I guess I missed that one. Thank You for clearing that up for me. -m

No worries, SC, i get an employee discount at work. UC retails for 19.99 at my store and i got it for ~16 with my discount. I had to buy BCM at compusa because my store doesn't carry it. The 1 hour worth of work it took to afford your game has given me countless hours of curiosity, hope, fear, excitement- and lots of new reading material. -m
