Delaterius Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 The game works perfektly every time except when preload 3D models is on, in which case it crashes to desktop after preloading. I read the FAQ and did everything even remotely related to this problem. Nada. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and my video drivers to no avail. Any idears as to why the preload option is the only thing that crashes my game?
Cc Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Well, 512 MB should be enough. How many processes are you running? Control + Alt + DEl = Task Manager. I don't normally run preload 3d models myself, but that's no reason why it shouldn't work. However last time I checked it worked OK. Using 2.00.16?

There is a reason why its off by default and why there is a warning in the config PDF file. quote:Originally posted by Cc: Well, 512 MB should be enough. No its not. Sure the game will use as much memory as it can find and then will use the swap file (assuming there is enough and someone hasn't gone in and changed their swap file settings instead of letting Windows manage it) but 512MB is not even close to being enough. If you ran the game in a window (/w1), then used preload while task manager is running, you will clearly see that 512MB is nowhere near enough for the game and the OS itself.
