Gustavo Posted December 7, 2001 Report Posted December 7, 2001 Could anybody help me in three things?1 - Is there any influence between the type of ship I choose and the type (and number) of enymies I will face? I chose the best supercarrier (firestorm) and all my enemies are biiiiiiiiiiig.2 - How can I make my SC release towed objects, so that I can tractor it to inside the ship? My sc keep flying around with his cargo pod or a disabled ship and I cant release it or beam it.3 - What can I do to stop enemy ships poping in each 5 minutes so that I can work a little (mining, reparing, reloading, towing disabled ships and etc...) The game just don't give me time to "work" a little instead of fighing everytime.and...4 - Is there any "safe" place where I could go to rest a little without being attacked each 5 minutes? Mars, that is close to earth is defetelly not a safe place to stay (????)Thaks guys, I'm enjoying this game very much ; )
TARWMSRK Posted December 8, 2001 Report Posted December 8, 2001 1. Dunno 2. Tell your shuttle to tow nothing ( I think that is how it works) 3. just stay near galcom HQ -- enemy units never seem to come there (or rarely atleast) 4. see 3
Supreme Cmdr Posted December 8, 2001 Report Posted December 8, 2001 3. Go to some of the sub-regions in Uranus or Jupiter region. or just find a spot on the planet and land there. Put the ship in HALT mode, activate the A/P and leave it there.[ 12-07-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
Guest Posted December 8, 2001 Report Posted December 8, 2001 1 - No clue. Dont think so, when I launch in a supercarrier I generally face smaller vessels.2 - How can I make my SC release towed objects, so that I can tractor it to inside the ship? A/ You can tell it to RTB or give it a HALT order. My sc keep flying around with his cargo pod or a disabled ship and I cant release it or beam it. A/why would you tow a cargo pod? CARGOSWEEP will tell the shuttle to collect the cargo pod.3 - You can dock or land on a friendly zone in a planet. Try underwater, ive been told it cools down the hull 4 - See SC response

Gustavo Posted December 8, 2001 Author Report Posted December 8, 2001 Thanks guys,....but I still have problems when my SC tows a disabled ship. I cannot dock a SC that is towing a ship. So, I have to release it firts than use my tractor beam. I will try the Halt command. The RTB command doesnt work becouse the SC cannot dock :|.thanks for helping, but I'll not try to cool my hull going underwater. Clever.....

Clan_Elemental Posted December 10, 2001 Report Posted December 10, 2001 I think this goes along with the same sort of 4 questions, so instead of making a new thread I thought I would append in here.I am knee deep in that learning curve, and trying to fly, trade and so on to get a feel for the basics before moving onto the vessels of mass destruction. Can someone post a sort of broad overview, a newbies guide or such on the best sector/empire/caste that will allow them to play fairly unmolested unless they purposelly pick a fight. The training academy doesn't seem to apply since you can't save your game (that I have found).I myself have tried trader, explorer and even diplomet and I huddle in SOL system behind the skirt of moma galcom and yet still I find myself getting destroyed over and over by what I assume to be raiders while I am trying to go do some mining. Meanwhile I assume the military/police are eating donuts and watching the fireworks. Are other empires more stable? It seems odd that the mighty terran space empire can not secure a trading route between it's homeworld and moon at the very least.Oh and can someone explain what governs an SOS ship being present... I found it really odd to learn the terran homeworld did not have an SOS ship handy.

If no towing services are currently in the region then you have to wait.[ 12-10-2001: Message edited by: Tyrn ]

Thats where the majority of their moons are. Those regions are fairly hostile free and boring.[ 12-10-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
