Strategy to destroy enemy ships easier

You can find any place with this characteristics, but I will show my favorit one. The area must have a conection with another one with a FluxField. As less Jump Gates in thise two areas as possible, better, and you will see why:

Near Mercury there is a Flux Field (f04) and two JG conecting to Earth and Venus. Jump to Venus and stay in front of the JG (FROM Venus TO Mercury). There is A LOT of ships going in and out that JG (The ships came from F04 and they prefer to go to Venus instead of Earth, I think. So Venus is almost the only way for ships going in and out that Flux Field).

You just stay there waiting. when a enemy vassel start to emerge from hyperspace you are already ready to blow it out easier due to this ship can't fire at you while in this transition situation.

The Traffic here is busy and you will have many targets to play with.

Be carefull, however, with the ships coming from the jump gate you are near. They can hit you from your back. If you are ready enough, It will be a easy target too, because it can't go away due to the recharging time of its engine.

thats it

The newbs have already figured out a way to essentially camp in BCM. Let's see if we can't find a way to stop this....

Here we go: new addition to the bible I quoted in this thread:

Thou shalt not camp.

This will, of course, be punishable by me, or some mercenaries here and there. (What else am I gonna spend my money on? )

All will change in MP....Camping will be dangerous. As the next ship that HJs to you, might be a player, who is WELL aware that you are camping. They will have 8 quality missiles FATAL on you, and be aimed directly towards you as they come out of HJ. Not to mention, fighters already launched and ordered.

well I don't see alot of PC pilots (especially enemy ones)... and I'm counting on my maneuvrability, good speed, loads of pta and teammates to win. And maybe my skills too

But unless I know about those mp changes I can't really say anything about it.

Hehehehehe.... here we go again!

Oh, and Elio; in MP, you're not going to see the inside of a Stormcarrier, unless you're planning on being a Gammulan

Hmmm.. let's see, if all the long time vets get a carrier, and run around cloaked, that leaves all the... ahem... visible targets for the rest of us to command... add the fact that we noobs will end up with the leftovers... hmmm... I smell a turkey shoot.

[rp]

"Fleet Comander Tac, Oban reporting for asset assignment. Sir!"

"Oh Hello there Oban, here's your baby, isn't she a beaut. You will do us proud son." Fleet CO Tac says as he gingerly puts down a red paint can and shows Oban the GCV Sitting Duck.

"Ah Sir.... whats the large bullseye doing on the side of my cruiser, and is that rust right beside the "Kick me" sign, where are all the PTA's? I thought they put this ship out of commission back in 3002"

"Son .. Son..easy there.. Ships are never put out of commission.. She just needed to be ahh .. er.. refitted .. yes thats it, refitted.. and thats the new wing logo for your squadron. Yes,you know the "boobs" squadron."

"Boobs sir?"

"yes Oban , Boobs, you now those battlecruiser noobs whe were dumb enough to think they were going to get a prime asset in the MP operation." Tac chuckles to himself shaking his head ruefully. "Silly boobs".

"Now, Commander Boob, er I mean Oban, saddle up son we have your first assignment. Your going to escort Cmdr. Tyrn and Cmdr. Dreada on an assault on New America. Tyrn will be in a Megaron, Dreada in a Nightstar, they will be cloaked of course. You are to ride shotgun as escort, after you go in youself and scout out the enemies strength first. I'm sure they will have one or two of those Pta's working before you get there. And oh yes we were out of crab mines, Orthae needed yours. Oh look your paint is dry, take her out and kick the tires Oban, on second thought don't kick them, we can't afford to replace them if they fall off, 30% inflation here at wraith you know."

Oban is left to stare at his new Command and wonder aloud to himself. "I wonder if there are any Stormcarriers left in the Gammulan fleet? Oh well, that is an awful pretty bullseye. Hey ensign help me scrub the rust off of this ship Ive got work to do?"

[end rp]

You wouldn't do that to me Tac would you?.. Tac? .. would you?

Cheers

LMAO!! @ Oban

Anyway, that whole business of going to SNG and picking any asset you like, is definitely NOT in mp.

In fact, once you login and choose a race/caste/career and launch platform (I might change this so that the server forces you to one that is based on your chosen race/caste/career), you are then taken to the launch base. Thats where you will see the available assets. They don't come from thin air and they are configured using the server side script.

e.g. GHQ may be configured for fighters only. Or even 1 carrier (which the FC will obviously grab and run with), dashing any hopes you have of getting what you want. Since the assets are on a first come, first serve basis, there is a very good chance that you won't even have a Sunflash to use. And one of my plans is to make it so that if you get killed a certain number of times, when you are warped back to your station, you lose your asset and have to pick whatever is available (if any). You might just find yourself floating in space outside the station (as an EF marine)without an asset.

BCM mp is going to be highly configurable and fine tuned across revisions.

I thought the FC were supposed to get get asset distribution sheets of some sort and set fixed assets for each member of a fleet...?

example : each member of a fleet adds 100 ship alloc points to the fleet, and 1 heavy cruiser is 50 points, 1 super-cruiser 75, a bc/violon is 100, a megaron/nightstar 125, an Aëstrom 150, a Firestorm 175, and a StormCarrier 200.

Dunno where you got that idea from. You must have been hallucinating at the time.

Thats NOT how it works. The server is configurable. The only person allowed to handle configurations are those with password access to the server. e.g. admins or FC.

At which point, the person sets up the params for the server. And yes, you can change someone's asset on-the-fly, even after he has launched. e.g. some idiot takes off with a craft he shouldn't have (e.g. Sunflash), the next thing you know, he's in a MK2 shuttle.

There are several rules I have to setup and once I've got it all hammered down, they will be in the VCF for the first mp patch. Now is not the time, nor is it the forum.

Still chief, Epsilon 5 has a good idea there.

Since the fleet servers will be for "fleet" use (and general bashing, kick-ass-n'-taking-names, insurgent grillin' and gam plucking), a way of giving each fleet resources to work with would be nice. Imo, it would be much more fun if each alliance had limited resources that were replenished every month (like a budget!) , and each alliance leader would have to distribute those resource points to the fleets in the alliance. Each fleet would then "buy" their stuff as they need it. Points are max per month and are not cumulative, so if a fleet is to get 5000 pnts and by the end of the month they have 2000pnts left, next month they receive only 3000pnts to pump that number back to 5000. Obviously, every fleet would use their extra points to get upgrades or stock up missiles for the rumbles. *G*

Would be like in those strategy games like Close Combat or Panzer General, where u get points every X time/battle to get your units

No 'e doesn't.

And I don't remember asking for ideas or wishlists either.

And you just regurgitated the same thing, pretty much.

I'm NOT sure which part of my statement above, regarding the server handling the configuration, was unclear. I don't remember ever saying that putting in mp for free in BCM, meant putting in new features and/or functionality. Outside of the mp implementation, BCM is done and finished. NOTHING new is going in; especially not some resource management nonsense.
