I didn't read the book. And don't plan on it.

But I DID want to see the movie because I thought it was a thriller etc

When I went to see it yesterday evening, NOTHING prepared me for the goriness of it all.

I left right in the middle of the bathroom scene. Those of you who have read the book - or seen the movie - know what I'm talking about.

What's with Hollywood and this gratuitious gore? I simply cannot imagine that the five mins of gore I saw before leaving, Stephen was able to actually put in writing.

So, those of you who have seen it, did it get any better past that scene?

yeah, you are right. it was messed up. What was worse for me was the just LAME pointlessly Profane characters king writes now. Seriously, would any normal person or group of friends put up with that infantile, Profane, loud mouth, sloppy, disgusting, extremely Foul mouthed idiot?? The guy with the big plastic Glasses? Hell no! He would have gotten his but kicked daily. Normal fairly well manered professional people do not hang out with freaks like that.

Ok got that out of my system...

BUT!!!!!

Did you see that "Last flight of the Osiris" animatrix short??? I mean HOLY CGI Batman!! that was just amazing. Hands down the best full CGI animation ever done. My Jaw was slack through the whole thing. not to mention the incredible action and stoyline. From what I have read online, It and another big Animatrix episode coming will lead directly into the begining of Matrix Reloaded. Such that if you dont see them, you wont quite have the whole story. Sure it will still make sense and all. But you will have that little extra info

Also, It was pretty hash the way it portrayed the raw reality of their struggle for survival. I had not really thought about the meaning of "last flight".. but. wow.. Pretty gnarley stuff.
