OK, take the horrific violence in Gladiator. Add a generous helping of the brutality of Fight Club. Then think of any truly violent movie in recent memory (e.g. The Patriot) and sprinkle on top.

That would explain the violence and brutality of Troy.

But I stayed almost three hours and watched it - squirming here and there - but I watched it.

Yeah, it was that good. This movie was so good that when I left the theatre, I kept promising myself that I was going to muster everything it took, to go back and see it again rather than wait six months for the DVD.

This is probably one of the best movie you will see this year. The acting, the cinematography, the actors, BRAD PITT!!! OMG, he looked so ripped in this one, if you blinked you'd forget who he was. Flowing locks and all, he looked probably like what Achilles would have looked.

WG and co did a damn fine job. At almost $200m (will go down to about $175m with all the tax breaks and whatnot) you can see where the money went. If the $45.6m box office receipts are anything to go by, this one has legs.

Damn this movie was good. I didn't quite like how they took liberties with the interpretation of The Iliad, but I can see why they did.

Brad Pit and Eric Banna with their performances elevated this movie beyond where it should have been. From a so-so epic with to much Noticable CGI to a really moving Character Driven picture.

Orlando Bloom was also marvelously cast against type as a total irritating wuss.

paris was a wuss...

i think this is the only one i seen on opening day... i came out of it mixed.

after reading the iliad god knows how many times, i thought the casting (IMO) was a bit off.

menalaus, was definitely not what i expected... neither was agamemmnon, and there were quite a few parts that made me want to scream... but as a movie in and of itself, it was pretty good. although i think you gave a waaaaaaay too generous score on this one.

...saw the movie with my GF on the WE. she really likes those kind of movies.

I must say I enjoyed this show very much. apart from the historical inaccuracies I can recommend it. the biggest flaw I think was the timescale. I had the impression, the war in the movie lasted about a month or two (the real Troyan War lasted 10 years!). but that's hollywood, you must understand this
