Kevin Trotter Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 I just finished watching what must be the last episode of Jeremiah and I must say I am pissed at Showtime. They continue to develop great premises for sci-fi shows and then abandon them.I will never commit to following any Showtime series as it seems they show no commitment to developing the show and sticking with it.Just look at the Showtime cast off list, Outer Limits, Stargate SG-1, Jeremiah, Odyseey5. Showtime fancies itself a competitor of HBO but... not so much. Jeremiah and O5 deserved a better send off and I think both are at least as good as anything Sci-fi has produced or adopted(ie the wretched Andromeda)Showtime didnt even promo the return of either show and if not for blind luck I would have never found them. Dead Like me is a good show but I refuse to watch it regularly cause who knows how it will end up? Yea its doing good now, but the bozos at Showtime could lose thier minds at any time. Other than Red Shoe Diaries, that zenith of TV achivement, Showtime shows little commitment and even less respect for the viewer. BTW I loved the character Sims with his backwoods accent and murdering ways. I would have liked to see them stretch that storyline out a bit longer, but thats Showtime for you.
Kevin Trotter Posted December 22, 2004 Author Report Posted December 22, 2004 Okay three is definitely a trend. Reportedly Showtime is cancelling its clever, critically acclaimed series Dead Like Me, despite its popularity. Anyone who watches a Genre show on Showtime is nuts. Its no wonder they are nothing but an HBO wannabee.
Scrivener Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 Beat me to it, Race. I wanted to break the news about Dead Like Me being... dead. Yeah, they cancel pretty much everything right away. Thank God Carnivale and LOST weren't picked up by Showtime during the pitches. But then the same is true of USA. These two channels have prematurely cancelled more great shows than all other networks combined will ever have.
Kevin Trotter Posted December 29, 2004 Author Report Posted December 29, 2004 Amen, Ijust hope the 4400 sees the light of day again
