AICN is reporting that Bob Weinstein, destroyer of cinematic worlds, is planning to cut Tim Burton's latest opus, Cursed (a super-intense Werewolf flick he's planned for years), and cut the R-rated film down to a PG13... without the director's blessing, support, or help. To make matters worse, this news comes just days after the announcement that Weinstein cut the US release of DARKNESS to a PG13. DARKNESS (in it's original R-rated form) has been available on DVD in europe for some time, it's US release delayed because of fears that it's depiction of supernatural violence against children would not be well taken by US audiences. To the studios: STOP RUINING MY GO******D MOVIES YOU POLITCALLY CORRECT STUDIO PRICKS! I WILL *NEVER* SEE ANOTHER PG13 CHOP AGAIN. AND SO HELP ME GOD I WILL STOP AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN FROM DOING SO TOO!

Sure it was alright to show Alexander in all it's hollywood agenda towards gayness. Noooo, when it's time for me to see the blood and gore movies I like they eff with them. Arrrgggg, I'm mad. Well it's time to stop spending my money on any of these altered flicks. It's also time for these directors to take a stand. If the studios don't want to play fair, then sure, have them release your altered film but quietly release the full flick on the internet. When the studios start loosing even more money because of this, maybe then they'd back down from their victorian attitudes towards horror flicks.

Yeah, I've convinced myself. It needs to be done. Let's think, though - what should we name it? P.S. I'm dead friggin serious.

LostInSpace Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 It's funny, I remember my first horror flick. A movie called 1972: MARK OF THE DEVIL. Me, my brother and a few of his older friends one of whom was 18 and the whole lot of us were able to see the movie because we were accompanied by a non-minor. I was 13 at the time. By the end of the movie we were all like "Holy crap ! That was awesome." I never suffered any nightmares or any ill effects. I, myself, thought the movie was fantastic. Showing human nature at it's most primal and what it was truly like during witch hunts. I, would say in my most humble opinion, even after seeing this movie, I still turned out to be a rather normal human being. "Mame, kill, destroy.. Gullummmm...", yes indeed I turned out okay "censors we hates you forever... forever... Gullummmm." Of course my sense of humor is a bit warped but that's not the fault of Horrors but british comedies . Seriously though, that movie didn't make me become evil, sadistic or a serial killer. It's just one of those things "I love really scary and gruesome horrors". My next most memorable movie was seeing "Alien" a week after it opened. Not even Mark of the devil scare the pants off of me like Alien did.
Guest Grayfox Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 everyone is hardcore insane over one thing or another. its like laundry... there isnt just "clean" and "dirty" there are maaaaaaany subtle levels. my first horror was John Carpenters "The Thing" (The one with kurt russell) i told my dad i wanted to see it and he took me no prob... i was like 8 or something at the time (1982 when it was made if i remember right)... i was like the only kid in the theater and i loved the movie... scared the crap out of me, but i didnt have any nightmares or things of that nature... just fun watching a movie with my pop... i dont think theyd release anything like that or alien nowadays... too many sensitive people around. now its pg-13 horror... 9 times out of 10 ill be asleep by the end. for the hardcore gruesome horror flicks, if you dont like it the answer is simple dont go and watch... but dont make those of us who love these kind of movies suffer cause you cry and complain until they stop making these types of movies.
