Supreme Cmdr Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Typical Jack Sparrow yarn. I sorted like this one better than the first in some ways. But boy is this one hilarious!!! There isn't a single scene that goes by where you don't LOL and go wtf? All the performances were top notch and those two reprobate mutineering (sp?) pirates (that odd couple, where one has a false eye) are back. Each time these two show up on screen, you know something crazy is about to happen. This was very well done and well paced. It is a long as Superman 3 but you won't notice it due to the pacing. Can't wait for the third and final (?) installment. 10/10
LostInSpace Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Ah, cool. I was waiting for that post about POTC. Seems people on the net are split about this one. The one major issue was the length. Glad to hear it's not am excruciating 2 1/2 hours.
Scrivener Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 A perfect movie... absolutely ruined by the filmakers' lack of self restraint. There's about 10 minutes of garbage material littering the film that drag the whole thing down. Bullet-time, squid snot, CG pole-bouncing acrobatics, unneccessary LOTR-style CG flyovers, sidekick commentaries, rotating triple-barreled cannons (the worst offender)... the list goes on and on. There was clearly a brilliant script in there - and there's even enough material to cut a perfect movie... but I can just see a bunch of CG animators sitting around a conference table geeking out on stupid ideas that somehow made it into the final product. Tack on a Lost in Space style ending and you get a movie with 10/10 potential but 6/10 as delivered.
