LostInSpace Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Just getting home and turning it on I hear kerry say that Bush has lost more jobs etc than any other president. Apparently he didn't do his homework on the unemployment rate that jamotto posted in another thread.
Guest Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Nope, and he's just going with it, should be interesting, Bush looks a bit stiff, hopefully he'll loosen up a bit.
LostInSpace Posted October 14, 2004 Author Report Posted October 14, 2004 Kerry keeps saying that he's going to roll back the tax cuts on 200,000+ income yeah do that and guess what they won't pay it they will just raise prices to pay for it or cut jobs to bring back their profit what they were making before taxes raised. Oh yeah the Pell grants have gone up because there are more and more immigrants in this country that want to go to college but can't afford it. Ummmm, did I hear kerry correct he'll give tax breaks to small businesses? Don't alot of them also fall into the $200,000 plus bracket? [ 10-13-2004, 09:42 PM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ]

Yeah, I've said that before about Bush he's more comfortable in informal venues like the second debate. Formal one's like this forget it.
Charles Lindsey Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Kerry is on fire. Bush has been coached not to scowl and tonight looks like a grinning monkey. (No relation to chimp jokes please)

LostInSpace Posted October 14, 2004 Author Report Posted October 14, 2004 Sure raise the minimum wage to $7.00 okay now companies will raise their prices either to keep the profit margin or thinking "hey people are making more let's charge more they can afford it" making the minimum wage raise a wash. And that education statement about N.Y.city is not Bush's fault or the federal government it's Albany. N.Y. city tax money goes to support upstate schools while City schools have to skimp and save because of this disproportionate tax share.

As always Now wait a minute. Last time Bush said he would pick Judges who followed the law. This time there is no litmus test?
LostInSpace Posted October 14, 2004 Author Report Posted October 14, 2004 Ah sorry must cut watching this debate short the Yankees call is too strong they are winning 3-0 bottom of the sixth. Not that I'm trying to change the subject. Pedro Martinez who's yer daddy!!!
Guest Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Followed the law, means does NOT legislate from the bench. No constructionist judges. Sounds like a plan to me....
Charles Lindsey Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Follow the law. Judge the law precisely without personal opinions getting in the way. Sounds fair to me. No litmus test. Now what? It's odd is all. And frightening. Lots of room for speculation.
Guest Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Well, Kerry's vision is far more frightening to me. He wants judges legislating from the bench, and that scares me far worse then ANYTHING that Kerry wants to do. RoeVWade has NO chance of getting overturned, it is a done deal, abortion will be and will always continue to be legal, it is a political reality. So to say that Bush's judges are going to somehow overturn it, is reaching so far out, that somebody is gonna fall.
Charles Lindsey Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 I didn't say that. What are you saying?
Guest Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 No, no, I know that you didn't say it, they said it during the debate...... I was just went there as I was answering you. Sorry, am doing like 4 things at once, and should have been more clear. My fault, sorry.
Guest Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 is it me or was the moderator throwing out a lot questions designed to hurt bush? I mean that question of what he said when asked if he had asked his dad before the invasion of iraq... what kind of question is that to waste on a presidential debate? Only bush could answer it and the answer was sure to have the president discussing his religious beliefs on tv...which ironically was something kerry was bashing bush on. bringin up cheney's daughter was LOW of kerry. Really low. Aside from that and the continous repetition of the same old crap, both did very well defending their points of view. The immigration question got my attention. Kerry wants to let illegal immigrants to have the chance of becoming citizens IF they have no criminal record or IF their children are US citizens. Bush said he wont since theres thousands of people LEGALLY waiting to receive residence. Im with bush on this issue. Im an immigrant myself and as someone who has worked alongside undocumented people in many of my jobs (heck sometimes i was the only one who spoke english in the place besides the managers), I fully understand what those who enter the US illegally go through. However, anyone who is in the US illegally HAS a criminal record. They are in the country ILLEGALLY. Anyone who'se children are US citizens (aka born in america) should NOT get any different treatement than someone who is waiting in line to receive US residence. Why? Because of a well-known practice of people from other countries coming to the US to give birth to their kids so they become citizens and then use the kids (who likely are raised since they are babies in their own countries) to get their greencards. Because families who are illegally in the US and have their kids in the US are not US citizens and neither should their kids. Citizenship is a civic responsability, not to be given based who'se land your momma pops you out on.
Guest Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Well, so far a LOT of the media is saying that Bush kicked some booty, others are saying that Kerry kicked some booty, others are saying that is's tie. My honest opinion, Bush had Kerry on the defensive most of the night, Kerry kept trying to get out of the corner, and could never pull it off. President Bush layed out Kerry on the floor with a good old fashioned can of A$$ whoopin'.
Kalshion Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Tac The guy was from CBS, Communist Beurocratic Socialist's, a main streem new's network that caters to the liberals.. why are you surprised that they asked that question? CBS wants Kerry in office, so it's only natural that they would ask questions to intentionally harm Bush
Charles Lindsey Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 May I answer some of this stuff backwards? Thanks beforehand. quote:Tac Citizenship is a civic responsability, not to be given based who'se land your momma pops you out on. Tac; that is old, old, ancient stuff on umm I can't think of the word. It IS about which land you pop out on. quote:The immigration question got my attention. Kerry wants to let illegal immigrants to have the chance of becoming citizens IF they have no criminal record or IF their children are US citizens. Bush said he wont since theres thousands of people LEGALLY waiting to receive residence. Wasn't BUSH the one who proposed some sort of amnesty? The following quotes are all Jaguars. I'm not gonna reconstruct the reply with quote thing for every sentence. quote:Well, Kerry's vision is far more frightening to me. He wants judges legislating from the bench, and that scares me far worse then ANYTHING that Kerry wants to do. Apologies Jag, the second sentence is poorly constructed I think. You have effectively included Bush by mistake. "He (patently obvious "HE" means Bush because you nmention Kerry by name later in the sentence.) wants judges legislating from the bench, and that scares me far worse then ANYTHING that Kerry wants to do." quote:No, no, I know that you didn't say it, they said it during the debate...... I was just went there as I was answering you. Sorry, am doing like 4 things at once, and should have been more clear. My fault, sorry. Ok. I'll talk with anyone for any length of time about anything.
Guest Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 No I was talking about Kerry totally in that sentence. Activist judges scare me more then just about anything. Because that is what will bring it all down at once. If ANYTHING is gonna start a civil war in this country, it will be Judges going past their authority. We have put up with far longer then I thought the country would have, but it is getting to be a BAD BAD thing. When 79% of the populace says yes, and then 1 activist judge says no, the excrement will hit the fan bigger then big. Again, I was talking about Kerry, NO ONE else in that sentence. And again, I am talking in 2 chat rooms amd 2 political forums and this one, all at the same time. So I move onto subjects faster then I should. TIme to shut down 2 of these windows I think.
LostInSpace Posted October 14, 2004 Author Report Posted October 14, 2004 Just to let ya's know the yankees won 3-1. So much for Kerry's Red socks.
Captain McMahon Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: Tac The guy was from CBS, Communist Beurocratic Socialist's, a main streem new's network that caters to the liberals.. why are you surprised that they asked that question? Anyway I guess I'm watching the rerun on C-Span now. I don't like the fact that Bush didn't extend the assault weapons ban. I like that Kerry is for it. However I'm mostly incline to Bush for most of his views.
Guest Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 "Tac; that is old, old, ancient stuff on umm I can't think of the word. It IS about which land you pop out on." Then answer me this then: If someone from country X (who is not a US citizen) comes to the US pregnant, stays for the 6 months her visa allows, pops the kid out in US soil and returns to country X where she raises the child until its an adult. Is that child a US citizen? Is that child an 'american'? The difference in those answers is the issue. To have a criminal (and yes im sorry, if you are illegally in any country you are engaged in a criminal act) be able to receive special treatment from the goverment is outright unfair to those who are law-abiding people who are waiting in line in immigration. To give citizenship or resident status to illegal immigrants just because they reproduced in US soil.. geez I wonder WHAT that would do? Oh let me guess! The first thing an illegal will do is pop a kid to get his citizenship! Or... better yet! Come in the US legally as a tourist, pop the kid and voila! they get residence/citizenship. And it happens. To legalize a loophole is no solution.
