paranide Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 http://service.spiegel.de/cache/internatio...,352874,00.html To be honest I'm shocked.I wonder what they are doing in the European Parliament. It is far too early to let these 2 countrys join the EU, as we still have to fully integrate the countrys of the EU East expansion which just happend the 1. may 2004(cyprus,chzech republic, estonia, hungary, latvia, lithunia, malta, poland, slovakia, slovenia). They are far from being integrated, as 8 of these countrys are not allowed to have their citizens go moving to the older EU-countrys to work there, this will be allowed at the earliest in 7 years.Furthermore, all those countrys are poor, so they don't pay, they are subsidizated.Romania and Bulgaria are more poor, so it will even last longer, till they do not need to be subsidizated any more.Approximately that will cost 44,3 billion euro. And furthermore, as to be read in the link above, there is still corruption and injustice in these countries. Why not wait until they have their problems solved and THEN propose them to join the EU?.Of course it is good to have a big EU, in which the infrastructure is quite similar,as it ensures not to have war anymore between european countrys, but I guess that we are having time and do not need to rush expanding the EU.Especially as we still do not have an EU-constitution, and I guess, this will never happen, as the citizens of France seem to probably reject the constitution.Who can blame them for that? There have been made a lot of mistakes and if the citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany(and other european countrys) would also be allowed to elect if they want the constitution,I guess a lot would reject likewise.Probably me too, as we are not given any explenations by our politicians what they are doing, they seem just to sign every guideline the Parliament of the EU want them to sign, they do not care at all if we,the citizens,do not want them to give away their authority to a third party, which we can barely influence, but which can influence us.
paranide Posted April 26, 2005 Author Report Posted April 26, 2005 I agree with you nomad... but what I was up to say is that there has never been a reasonable masterplan to get to a souvereign european country, just a transferring of moneys and arguing about how much subsidiziation this or that country will get.We also need common, equal rights for every european country, otherwise what is that European Union worth other than an economic alliance,an equal currency for all countrys(without the UK),and the Schengener Contracts and,of course, the avoiding of inner-european war? And the reunification is definetely a concern of the EU as Germany is paying the most in Europe(40 billion Euro now from which we are getting back 20 billion Euro)and we are even going to have to pay more. http://service.spiegel.de/cache/internatio...,348546,00.html It is sure a good system to measure how much a country has to pay by looking at its population, but it doesn't look good for us in regards of our economy strenght(and in regards of the unemplyment rate,we have nearly 9 million people unemplyent causing big holes in the country's finances), as we have an economic growing of 0,6 percent. So that we are having that lot to pay to an Europa which doesn't seem to have the intention to become a "real" country,it's just sucking the blood out of Germany IMHO.
