Emmett.hendrick Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 Ever since I got my Broadband connection at home I've had terrible problems with my PC running XP Home. I have a good firewall and Norton Antivirus is permanently up to date (and I run regular scans) I eventually tracked the problem down to the driver for the USB connection to my Modem. So I was thinking of getting a Ethernet card instead but I think I may re-consider the wireless options aswell. Otherwise I like what they are putting in SP2. It'd be nice to use the built in Firewall rather than having to get an external one (sorry but I'm a MS fan). The IE changes are good and I really like the Popup Blocker. Plus the download manager can't do any harm I suppose. Nice to see MS offering a more complete package there fore not forcing users to go looking else where for many features that many feel should have been part of the base OS a long time ago.

Source article can be found here. While SP2 doesn't seem like a big deal for consumbers, I bet most IT personnel are keeping up with it's development. Some guy somewhere is rebuilding his/her server right now, wishing that there was no such thing as a buffer overflow

Hey Dreada, My BB connection is with Eircom and I have to say I have some definate issues with it but I don't have an option of getting it from anyone else unfortunatly. I am seriously thinking of putting a NIC in my machine and using the ETHERNET connection on the modem instead of the USB one. Recently I've been looking at wireless options aswell though as the wiring running across the floor on the house is rather unsightly (especially as the nearest phone point is in the kids bedroom and the PC is in ours.)
