Just picked up FABLE for Xbox. This is a sweet Game. Man alive. The Graphics are beautiful, the storyline is really nice. I am only a little ways into at and i'm Blown away.

Peter Moulenoux (or whatver his name is) is a freaking Genius game developer. Lionhead Studios rock.

Best Story/Action/RPG i have seen in a long time if not the best ever.

Ill give more updates as I play more.

Wow the Artwork and World design/look is just sweet. It is a very artistic and a soft looking fantasy world.

Great Story progression so far.

It plays a lot like a 3rd person action game except with Full RPG skills and Equipment and leveling.

Its all realtime fighting.

You can get married, Buy land, businesses, homes.. Be good or bad or inbetween. There are a lot of secrets and side quests and such.

The Graphics looks like you are literally playing the Nature scene from GT4 on 3Dmark2001SE.

Agreed, I have a paperweight... I mean XBox. If anyone wants it, it's theirs for $50.00 plus shipping.

Um... Perhaps if you bought some great games like this one and Breakdown etc.. it would not be a papaerweight?

I mean no disrespect to console game lovers, but as Scriv said..consoles just aren't my bag. And yes I was tempted to try Fable, but I remembered what it was like trying to play KOTR on it and decided not.

I'm glad you enjoy it!

You didnt like Kotor on Xbox?? Wow!! Now thats amazing.

Personally I find that I like the Console RPG's and action games far better than their PC counterparts. I like FPS games on PC. Then certain mish mashes of games here and there on each system.

For instance I am going to be all over Knight Blade if it ever actually gets released.

The last console game I owned before going to PC's was the Intellivision, so that should tell you something. Once I played games on my C64 I never looked back and the Amiga only reinforced the idea that PC games were more to my liking. I did manage to get the Dreamcast also (which I still have but don't use). I did enjoy SSX3 and Burnout2 on the Xbox so it's not all that bad, but after trying all these flavors I still prefer PC games.

As for Fable, yeah Molyneaux is a gaming god, do you know if there are plans to release it on PC?

I seriously doubt it will be on the PC. I just ordered one of those things off of ebay just to play Fable and possibly Halo2, and I kind of felt like I had sold my soul. Just a bit. Oh well, like Grizzle, after those two games, my xbox will be a paper weight. PC gaming is far superior, and I know it.

EDIT- Oh yeah and the graphics are colorful and pretty but they really aren't that detailed and it could also use a lot of anti aliasing.

In an interview with Molyneux some time ago when this was still called Project EGO, the plan was to do a simultaneous PC/XBox release. That plan obviously went out the window. After the official title was announced, Molyneux said that a PC port was possible if the Xbox version sold well enough to warrant it.

I don't need to tell you again how incredibly absurd I find that concept. PC games used to pave the way to innovation. Now console trash gets the good ideas, which often fail, and never make it to PC.

The majority of PC gamers admire innovation - the majority of console gamers shun it. This is irrefutable, I've seen it every day at my job for the last 5 years. Consoles are like a bicycle with training wheels, where a PC is like a dirt bike. Too many people are too happy with their bicycle that they never know the happiness that is dirt biking. It's just plain more exciting and rewarding an experience.

*sigh* I can give consoles this - Ninja Gaiden rocked... and I can't think of a single console game that absorbed me like that since Super Mario Bros 3. But that is a very rare exception to the rule.

Alas, a Fable port to the PC will just just like all console ports do. The only reason I bought Halo PC was because of the short video you see after you exit the Halo PC demo. Anyway, Fable is great (though a little short for me) and to tell you the truth... I bought an xbox just to get my hands on Fable.

Huh... ??? That statement makes no logical sense at all. If Console games are paving the way to inovation then how can they be Trash? Furthermore *MOST* Pc games these days are regurgitated trash and they have been for several years now. Blame Publishers not the Consoles.

The *good Ideas* sell FAR better on Console than Pc games ever have with few exceptions. You are seriously talking some biased nonsese thats not even close to based on fact. PC Niche games sell Zippo and get about Zippo coverage. Meanwhile and this has been true for YEARS Companys like SEGA are always (to a fault) pushing the boundries of Gaming and they have always done it at the Arcades and Then Their Consoles.

There is virtually no valid argument that I can think of for the Position you have. The Graphics on Xbox are better than even the most High end PC's at least 90% of the Time. Just look at The game in Question FABLE. Simply outstanding. Textures, World details, animations all better by a mile than any RPG I have seen released on the PC basically EVER. Look at HALO and other games of this nature PC's had nothing to compare to them till Farcry.

Gameplay is generally as deep as most PC games with a few exceptions. Often actual Character development, Cutscenes, Scripted Scenes and Vocal Audio of the characters are superior to their contemporary PC games.

Other than a Few nitch games like BC3000AD and some others how could you even compare PC games to the wealth of varied console games?? Meaning the Pure Console games not the PC conversions.

If a Game is Origional, or Inventive, or Creative, or simply Good what difference does it make wether its on a Console or PC?

It still amazes me that no matter how much titles improve for consoles people still doggedly refuse to accept they may have some value. I think it comes down to a lot of snobbery. I have a friend who hates console games ( though he had never yet played one) ranted about the inherent evil of platform gaming ad nauseum...as if to like one format forever prevents you from playing the other. If you want to hold the title of computer game geek just so you could look down on consolers, have at it.. Fable is a damn good game and anyone who refuses to play it because of the platform it is on should renew thier membership to the Flat Earth Society.

I would like to add that.. the latest Elder Scrolls title, Oblivion.. which is talked about in another thread... has Graphics done on Xbox2. So what you see their is being powered by ATi's new R5XA processor. Which is a hybrid between the upcomming R520 and R600.

Again,, that game is DEEEEP and the graphics are HUUUUUGE. Is this game "crap" as well just becuase it will be designed around Xbox2?

Hellbinder, theres a limit to what a console can have. A PC is only limited to what the developers can cram into it.

Perfect example is, again, Final Fantasy XI. Its primarily a PS2 game, and because of that its not capable of having anywhere close to the amount of content and diversity that a PC game can have.

Matter of fact, really, really old PC RPG games like the Ultima series, the Elder Scrolls type games have nearly 3 times the stuff that final fantasy XI has. And these are games that are 10 years old in comparison!

Consoles will never replace a PC as the ultimate gaming platform.

The X-box is an attempt to make a console be more like a PC btw
