Cruis.In Posted December 18, 2004 Author Report Posted December 18, 2004 darkspace was free? i played that game for a long while. it has a great community...and action packed team based strategy... it was fun. but I can't spend so much time playing it, like one day I have some time, then I might not have a good set of free time for weeks on end, so I could not justify paying 9,99 and only getting 2 days worth of play a month... too bad for me. I have to wait now either for GCO. or star trek online. games currently being played: none

Raziel Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 Neocron seemed like it would be a really good game, but it seemed so unfinished the last time I played. The starting 'training' island had absolutely nothing to teach you and most of the area was way to strong for a newbie. Which is odd seeing how none but newbies could enter it. Quest giving and/or important NPC's with incomplete or non-existant text. The 'helpful' guide paths would have you plow through the middle of KOS areas. It would be excusable, since it is giving you the most direct route. Howsomever it's jsut silly, when it drags newbies who barely have an idea of the layout through KOS areas. : Even Everquest in the old old days, didn't mistreat starting players so badly.

Wolfheart Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 @Raziel Well its buggy but the dev team is constantly working on it and even add some nice new content from time to time(like the ability of placing trophies of hunted monsters in your house). About the difficulty issue the game has law enforcer implant which basically means no other player can attack you(nor you can attack anyone) as long as you keep it in your head.Dont take it out out before you're experienced or... Its getting better,so if it has been long since you quit you might want to give it another shot.
Raziel Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 I wasn't talking aobut the Pvp. I meant the factioned NPC's. When I first played started teh game after leaving the starter island, I used the terminal in my apartment to get some missions for start up cash and to get a handle on the game. I almost gave up on the game entirely after dieing 5 times in a row to automated turrets and hostile factions. The only that kept me quiting right away was this really nice person who showed a shortcut(and safe one to boot ) She was really nice, even lent me some credits and showed to some of the cooler spots of the city. (like Pepper Park ) But even encountering nice folks to play with was not enough to keep me past the first 30 days. It jsut didnt thrill me enough to pay the monthly fee.(Which was twice what I payed for the game ) Personally, I believe the best Sci-fi MMORPG out is Anarchy Online. It has a great community, a solid RP community as well and most importantly is the Alien Invasion Expansion. It is just awesome, it never gets old watching those huge motherships settling in over your Organizations(guild)city and start beaming down ALiens hell bent on destroying it.
Guest $iLk Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Playing Star Wars Galaxies... the CU is actually preferable for me after having played the prior iteration of the game. It's not perfect by any means... but being fairly new I'm not totally screwed by SOE on decisions that were made on professions I haven't reached yet. Most stuff is fine-tuned by the time I reach it. Working on Jedi right now actually... 3 month account and already force sensitive.
