Kevin Trotter Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Hey kiddies a funny thing happened on the way to the Gamestop. I was going to pick up Pacific Fighters for the PC and Republic Commando for the Box and I ran across Project Snowblind, and Eidos product.I remembered reading about this game with a gillion weapons and tons of ways to complete missions and picked it up quicker than you could say Jack Robinson. When I got home I remembered that I forgot the other twp titles. Instead of driving right back I took PS for a little ride. Havent made it back to GS yet. PS centers around Nathan Frost an elite peacekeper assigned to Kowloon who nearly dies saving a comrade. He is put back together ala the Six Million Dollar man with a crap load of bio augmentations like Stealth, ballistic shielding, enhanced reflexs, vision and healing. He starts the game with minimum augmentations and gets them upgraded throughout the game similar to Psi Ops. The weapons are great as he starts with only a pistol and a carbine, but throughout the game Frost has access to a dizzying array of firepower. Grenades include frags, EMP, gas, incins, and flashbangs. They also have a spiderbot grenade that when thrown grows legs and tracks enemies and attacks! A smoothbore shotgun ,sniper rifle, mine launcher, rocket launcher are just some of the anti personnel weps. They also have a depolyable riot shield you can throw that provides instant cover. The kinetic kicker is like the mag gun in HL2 but less powerful. It comes in handy when health is running low and a medkit is out of reach. Charge it aim and its yours! Save points are located in rooms and are spaced just well enough so you dont have to replay the level over and over. The rooms also are abundant in health and ammo pickups. Graphics are ok, not Halo quality, but solid. I witnessed no floatimg players are arms sticking through walls and doors. The sound is solid and the voice acting is passable. I am currently only a third of the way thru but it is engaging and the weps are really way cool. All in all a worthy shooter with a decent story. Cant wait to get XBox live this summer and try this badboy out. 8/10
jamotto Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Sounds neat. Will have to wait for it to come out for the PC though.
