I was reading the latest PC Gamer and they mentioned a mod that I decided to check out. Since then, I've been playing mp this weekend. Its really cool and just addictive as I remembered it.

To get back into it, do this:

btw, the expansion pack is crap. Just stay away from it.

1. Do a fresh CD-ROM install of AvP2 (or AvP2 Gold)
   
2. Apply the 1.0.9.06 patch
   

Then, from here, download and apply the following updates in order.

1. AvP2 Multiplayer Map Update #1
   
2. Aliens vs Predator 2 Single Player Map Update #1
   
3. AvP2 Custom Map Pack (155.1MB version)
   
4. AvP 2 - Jungle 2 Map
   

If you want, you can also apply the ProJam 4.4 mod (recently reviewed in PC Gamer)

FilePlanet also has several good maps which some servers are running.

If you have GaySpy or GaySpyArcade, you can search for servers. I use ASE (which is going down the crapper since Yahoo! bought it) and only play Team DM on two really good (read: no wankers) servers;

Cool! Never tried AvP2 online. Guess it's time to bring the game out again

Its the Projam4 mod

Make sure you grab the latest AvP patch. Fileplanet also has a 155MB map pack that is a must have.

Lol! Actually, I've always liked PC Gamer. Pretty decent writing, and mostly accurate reviews, in my estimation. They usually seem to give a fair assessment of SC and his games, as well. Well, none of that "It's a Derek Smart game, so we HAVE to slag it!" crap that other mags and web sites dish out, anyway.
