My guess is that very soon, on board audio will negate the need for add-in audio cards. Until then, stay away from Creative products and pick up either an Auzentech or Asus product.

People actually still buy soundcards? I haven't bought a sound card since '99. Only ever needed them for DOS based games (*Glares at Redguard*). With Windows I've found that for gaming and general usage onboard soundcards are fine. I will however note that I do not do a lot of audio editing where it obviously is still needed.

Interesting article though, looks like Creative did some pretty underhanded tactics which is sad. However, it is Vista.
