Well new to this game and like the open spces, but something i dont get. when i arive at a planet, like earth, i cant find any bases or anything, i just fly over land and land...but no structures, no npc`s etc. Space works fine, just empty planets...is this normal for the roam mode??

great game, awsome feeling, just puzled about if ground objects are only woking on campaign mode??...

Well, about 50% or more of any planets surface is barren. There are only regions with dozens of small bases where you can find structures and units.

Did you try going in tac-ops mode and looking around for those regions on the planet?

Because if your just landing on the planet with no pre-set destination, chances are, your not going to appear over one of those bases.

If you have the manual, look in there for what im talking about.

This also goes for campaign mode.

You need to use Tacops to locate the mzone where the bases are. Then set a waypoint to that base. When you enter the planet, you'll be there. Its in the manual.

Perhaps if you made known your native language you might find that someone on these boards shares that with you and may be able to help you out.

Tacops is key to waging war on a planet whether you deploy fighters, shuttles, your Command ship, or away teams via the transporter. Mess around with tacops long enough and you will be able to command your units effectively. Good hunting brother. :)

Im Danish, not like the bread and sugar thing, but the flesh and bobe type :salute:

But well, i have used abit time on the game now.

I can assgn and use the crew interface. I can fll up a shuttle with stuf and bring it to planets. I can set on surface waypoints and get my shuttle to se them and follow the orders. I have learned to work the fighters as main weapon.

I can use my marines and isue them orders. Driving like a taxi driver my self, use the diffrent weapons and in general have an idea for how to do things.

I stil die everytime i get within 10km of an enemy base...

in 50% of the times i get back to space to my ship, its either blown up or so badly dameged that my new prime ship is a shuttle with a probe, a OC and 20 marines.

Stil working out the stuf with cargo pods. i tractor them, they get close and then i kinda run out of ideas.

i am a stubborn old fart that realy dont like giving up. I learn this game the old way. click here and there and if you dont die you di it correct...i realy hatet that game after the first 10 hours, now im passing 50 hours + and are loving it.

As a silenhunter sub fanatic knightblade could end up killing my urge for those ww2 coffins, and if its true that game is the same ust with 3 d and walk inside the ship, well then my eve online 2005 subscription could be in danger. Im having a blast, and when im just that tad more confident, ill start roam someones server.....blowing shitz up.....

TBear, I love your attitude ..... that's the sort of gamer that really gets this stuff.

I really do suggest having a go at Echo Squad, It'll give you some good training and insight into the AI behaviour to have your guys "on your wing" all the time ....... AND IT'S GOT COCKPITS for all 4 fighters (I know, I know, I must get over that).

Then .... to really flesh it all out ..... grab All Aspect Warfare or Angle of Attack, depending on your preference ..... even just to see where the graphics engines are heading .... astounding.

.... we need more like you.

Well said Badman! TBear, I believe it is best if you use your shuttles to collect cargo pods(there is a collect order in the SC dropdown menu), dock with your command craft(RTB order), and then use the Tactical computer to transfer cargo from your SC to the CC. Yer doin' fine brother.

The game seems to hate me in regards to cargo pods. They never drop anything good unless I have 5+ intruders onboard all sitting inside my shuttles. And by the time I clear them out the cargo pods already disappeared :salute:. Speaking of which if you don't already know it, shut off launch control when intruders are onboard.

lol...aaaaaah......Intruders....one of my nemesis`s..well used a shuttle, got the cargo...another mountain climped. About the more simulatorbased games. Well i am an old IL2`er, used plenty of time in the 109....but i kinda got to a stage now where i want to be the guy sending others out to die. And when they done there job ill be right theretaking what they just fought for....he he he

I will get the demos that are around, bu UC is more than enough. 24 hours a day and im a corp leader in eve online so have to use abit time there ;)

Stil UC.

Todays goals. Figure out where my $ are so i can get stuf. Figure out trading. Hopefully i can get a OTC the big weapon thing and try to nuke a base. Any advice on how to get closer to an enemy base. Kinda stuck at the 10km range??....

Well awsome that someone actualy reads this lol.....and i get back.....telling your all about my progress as a moron in a big ship failing at stuff lmao

Tbear,

Welcome to our nightmare....err addiction. ;)

Remember my warning about Lt Resnig at the other forum?

Want to straighten him out so you can actually get rid of the intruders?

When he gives you the intruder alert, send his inept fannie to a shuttle and watch how quickly his marines clean it out. That or he'll suddenly go off duty and head for his quarters no matter what you tell him to do.

Assign your compliment of Marines to search duty yourself. All of them.

The intruders will end up dead or in the brig. Afterward, check your shuttles for stolen cargo. Intruders have really sticky fingers.

If all else fails, I beam Resnig down to a lifeless moon and have the MO clone a new Resnig. One without the stubborn streak. :salute:

When your officers have gained enough experience they will shut down launch control automatically.

Resnig once sent all my marines to operations when intruders were attacking him. Naturally they left before they got there and he went off duty. Intruders are evil though...I had some that were hanging out around shield control and kept knocking my shields down while I was fighting. Anyways, I highly recommend buying UCCE, and if your computer can run it upgrade it to 2.0. About getting near bases, try sending a team of marines to take out the air defences first. Then blow the launch pad up and either bring your CC down, or land a tank or two. Don't forget to send marines to escort your AFMs since the only anti marine weapon they have are shotguns. Dummies try and shoot their launchers at them sometimes. Usually I just beam down 4 MI marines with orders to escort the 4 AFMs. The AFMs are on SEAD or SAD orders. I usually stay down as well providing cover for any marines sneaking up on mine. After the air defences are taken care of, I take out the launch pad. Then I bring my CC down to take care of the rest of the base. If you go down yourself try using your DIE+being prone to detect enemies and destroy them before they find you.

I was busy doing mining ops in a shuttle when a juicy insurgent LRT showed up near the Earth jumpgate so I sent my command ship off to take care of it and when in arrived in the vicinity of the LRT Resnig opened fire with the main guns for an awesome display of firepower........... of course, being Resnig he missed. totally. the LRT was even stationary!

We Insurgents do that on occasion; we try to give Resnig practice, knowing damn well that he'll miss! :birthday:

I have summarily executed an officer in the past... that was fun.

However, last night I managed to out resnig Resnig.... I won't go into the list of mistakes that led to it but I ended up with a Raider blowing holes in the side of my shiny MkIII because I never had the shields up. Fortunately I managed to limp back for repairs and no one was killed....

Resnig is a complete idiot.

I was flying through space to the Gammulan region, and i noticed my little CAS thing blinking red.

I check the (forgot what its called) personell thingy, just below the option where u can choose tac-ops, and i had like 8 intruders on board, and half my marines were stationed, the other half sleeping.

My officer had 74 AI, and he still neglected to mention any intruders were on board :birthday:

Next thing later, combat breaks out on deck, and i have to escape to a shuttle while i order the marines to kill the scum.

I sent resnig to the bridge, and everyone else to the shuttles :salute2:

that basterd got what he deserved.

Errr you can't send Resnig to the bridge. If you put him on station he goes to operations, not the bridge. How do you think intruders never kill him when they're on the bridge? Good to hear that your doing well in the game TBear.
