VampireLord Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 Hi there everybody, a few days ago I posted the first part of my epic RP fan literature which I will continue over the next weeks. As it was posted in another forum as an addition to my welcome post I would like to repost it here together with the second part. Nothing interesting as of yet, just some short Intro into our tragic heros first command. I hope you like it, if you don't feel free to tell me. I will surely work on my style in any way. Commanders Logbook GCV-Otto-Lilienthal stardate 11-21-3010 AD Part I: Reflections of the past >>My name is Frank Devin, fresh out of the academy and this is my story. I am currently standing at one of the many viewports of GalcomHQ looking at our moon. Being 35 years now, I have seen quite my part of the Universe already. My father being one of the main players in one of the most important corporations of our modern times I was sort of forced to go to GalCom and do my service. Well I have brought it to this point. At the side of the viewports a shadow appears out of drydock and moves past the lush green/blueish shape we call Earth. I wonder what is so interesting about travelling in space, that made us leave our beloved homeworld. Man, if I knew at that time how wrong I was... Now it is in full view, my vessel, the Otto-Lilienthal named after a pioneer of manned flight and I considered myself one as well. I think every commander of a GalCom vessel is one. Enough of this philosophying, my watch tells me it is time for me to take command.<< Message halted....Press play to continue at any time. Message playback resumed Commanders Logbook GCV-Otto-Lilienthal stardate 11-21-3010 AD Part II: Assuming Command So I am now assumed to take command on my vessel, hmm my vessel, they are really that insane, to give me command of a full grown Battlecruiser MKIII, I wonderIs Galcom really that short on seasoned commanders? Well, I guess the war is eating us up.Lets just make sure, that this war doesnt eat me up.or my crew.another thing I have to think about now.. I am looking out of a viewport again, but this time it is not from a station but from a shuttle speeding away from it, towards my ship. The closer we get, the better is the look I get of it. Its three turrets, the massive engines and solar reactor. Approaching the Shuttle Bay the Flight Engineer sitting next to me was mumbling. Great, what a crew! Sending a FE, not even a fully trained pilot! Man was I wrong, as soon as we entered the bay I noticed why the Pilots didnt have any time picking me up. Intruder alert, all stations Intruder alert, Condition Red a voice, that should later become known as Mother was greeting me on my ship. Well, what a nice surprise, no committee so far. Out of the shuttle I first readjusted my Uniform. So they dont want to talk to me, no problem then they will get the serve right back up their ***. Moving over to a system engineer doing some pre-flight checks I announced who I am and what was going on on this ship. But the SE didnt have to answer as I heard a voice shouting somewhere behind me. NO GARETH DONT and something like Captain, get DOWN. The next thing I knew was that I awoke in the MediBay surrounded by about 9 giggeling faces and 4 marines as well as a few medics. Brain trauma, nothing we cant cure, that thing really hit him good, flew some two meters before crashing into that plasma line. Fighting through my headache and everything I barely manage to voice a command sounding a bit funny after all. Ladies and Gentlemen, where the hell am I, what am I doing here and WHAT KIND OF A WELCOME IS THIS ONBOARD MY SHIP? I shouldnt have shouted that last part, my headache obviously didnt like it. A very stern looking Medical Officer was looking at me whilst saying Sir, my name is Allison Meeks and you are at the moment not a commanding officer aboard this ship, as I have relieved you of your duties due to a serious health condition. Man you should have seen my face on that one. Well in any case, my grimace seemed to have done its job as I was allowed to stand up. Only then I noticed that I had been bereft of my uniform and was now standing on the metal floor in nothing but my shorts and a t-shirt. I felt like sinking into the floor. Finally the reason for my accident was shown to me. A nearly cow sized dog was panting at my Research Engineers side. Unfortunately this beast must have gone loose running around the ship and at the time of arrival everybody was obsessed with damage control. I had to suppress a smile. So much for my welcome aboard my ship, finally back in uniform standing on my bridge I gave the orders to disembark from port and start on an adventure, that should change my life over the next 2 years.
