Supreme Cmdr Posted March 2, 2000 Report Posted March 2, 2000 Well, it had to happen. Akorn, my website ISP has indicated that they are going to be hiking my rates to $500 per month, up from $175. Why, because I am now the largest and busiest site on their pipe. And I'm sucking up, on average of 35,523,000,000 bytes worth of bandwidth *per month*.Well, time to pack our bags, after 4 years, we're moving 'cuz I sure as hell ain't paying that.To see the net stats, go here. Its scary really. I can't imagine whats going to happen when multiplayer goes online.3000AD Net Stats

SpacePhish Posted March 2, 2000 Report Posted March 2, 2000 Half of those are proably me when I'm on my coffee break...
Blades Posted March 2, 2000 Report Posted March 2, 2000 ... and the other half bein me when Phish isnt.
Rico Jansen Posted March 2, 2000 Report Posted March 2, 2000 Yikes! 50k hits! 35.5 Gigas! That's a pretty high stack of CD's. almost 64. And you're right about the money. What an increase.Say, Blades and Spacephish? You guys live in Vienna, Virginia?? Or it sounds like we got a recruitement office up there. How many people live up there, anyway? Commanders I mean.------------------ Cmdr. Rico 'V_ger' Jansen GCV-de Ruyter Prime fleet Gamma Wing, 1st Squadron "... to boldly show, where no one has gone before"
Badgerius Posted March 2, 2000 Report Posted March 2, 2000 I've got dibs on the third half. (Yeah I know, there isn't such a thing, but proper math dies in favour of consistancy.)------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
SpacePhish Posted March 2, 2000 Report Posted March 2, 2000 quote: Vienna, Virginia?? huh? Where you get that from? I don't live anywhere near there. Anyway, don't want to get off topic, ISP suck. They do. They just plain suck. $500?? Why do they play like that?
Rico Jansen Posted March 2, 2000 Report Posted March 2, 2000 Spacephish: See the report half way down. The highest amount of "user sessions" for the US occured in Vienna, Virginnia. About 15500. So, I wondered if you and Blades were behind this. But I didn't know what an user session actually meant. I thought it was equal to a page hit. But it means, according to the Glossary, the number of individual visitors to the site. Like distinct IPs. So, it's more the recuitement office idea.------------------ Cmdr. Rico 'V_ger' Jansen GCV-de Ruyter Prime fleet Gamma Wing, 1st Squadron "... to boldly show, where no one has gone before"[This message has been edited by Rico Jansen (edited 03-02-2000).]
Blades Posted March 2, 2000 Report Posted March 2, 2000 Dang, I'm not even in the US ....Recruitment drive? Did I miss somthing here, or is someone deleting posts without warning me first?
SpacePhish Posted March 2, 2000 Report Posted March 2, 2000 HAHAH I know why! Guess where AOL main server is located! Vienna V.A !!*spacephish dance around with his laptop, then black-out and falls to the ground from too much caffine...
Supreme Cmdr Posted March 3, 2000 Author Report Posted March 3, 2000 LOL! Spacephish, you're a riot.Anyway, yes, because AOL is primarily in Virginia and since AOL users make up quite a lot of the visitors, they've been spiking my server. I gotta give 'em a call and get them foot the bill.
Guest aramike01 Posted March 3, 2000 Report Posted March 3, 2000 LOL!!! Get AOL to foot any part of any bill!? If you can pull that one off, you truly hold some divine qualities!!! ------------------ Cmdr. Michael Kristophers Spectre Fleet Chief Security Officer, Pre-Commissioning Crew, New America Starbase ICV-Intrepid Recruitment Officer, Spectre Fleet
Guest Ron Wallin Posted March 3, 2000 Report Posted March 3, 2000 That's great, aol pay the bill!!!Be careful, SC, instead of footing the bill they're more likely to charge you for 3 months of ao[hell] access! Good luck getting that money back... ------------------ Cmdr. Akira Spectre Fleet, Command Staff Official Tester Battlecruiser Series

Rattler Posted April 3, 2000 Report Posted April 3, 2000 Good Luck Boss. Somebody (Mike, Charles, anybody) make sure and leave a light on so "Uncle Rattler" can find the place if the url changes. I'm still trying to keep tabs on the goings on here but it will be spotty at best. Rattler, Insurgent One Under Cover
Guest Posted April 3, 2000 Report Posted April 3, 2000 Rattler, the URL will probably stay the same, as Derek owns it outright. Right Derek? BTW, happy birthday, Derek - Tringad

That will be the main multiplayer hub.My birthday is tomorrow. Where do you think that game start date for BC3K came from.
