Eclipse Posted March 14, 2000 Report Posted March 14, 2000 well, I was talking with Rattler a bit earlier about Pan, in the corse of the conversation we came to the topic of the Iron Man award he had received some time back. I got to thinking about how he had said that you couldn't take SS's with IC's anymore since SC upped the defenses. Well I gave it a shot and not knowing what exactly to go for I went to the nearest station, Pixan. and after 2 attempts, I was successful, no I didn't cap the station, but I did destroy it using only an intercepter and no missiles. I would have capped it, unfortunately the stations defenders destroyed it in their attempt to get to me. here are the pics of it: http://redrival.com/digitalec/bcpics.zip I must admit it was quite fun, and seems to be a great way to get experiance for IC pilots j/k------------------ Cmdr. SpcFX Posted March 14, 2000 Report Posted March 14, 2000 Actually, I do not believe you can capture a station with an interceptor. I recall that captures were only allowed by specific capital vessels.

Rattler Posted March 14, 2000 Report Posted March 14, 2000 SpcFx is correct, you may actually capture a Starstation with a Battlecruiser. That thread so long ago only showed that a Starstation might be brought to it's prevervial knees with a single IC. Now if any other Commanders out there would like to give it a shot, be my guest. Remember, you may NOT receive support from your BC. Leave it outside the system and only fly your IC into the system and attack a Starstation. SpcFX Posted March 14, 2000 Report Posted March 14, 2000 Went through my GBS notes on the capture routine. The only vessels which may capture a station are Cruiser and Carrier class. Maybe someone could create a script to eliminate the possiblity of cheating IE If here BC than Destroy Station < not GBS codeand place a cruiser in the region at the IC's disposal to capture the station once it is disabled. < would have to think about this as it would be tough to protect the cruiser and disable the station with only an interceptor
Supreme Cmdr Posted March 14, 2000 Report Posted March 14, 2000 You could make is simpler by deploying a cruiser/carrier in the region, on patrol orders. Then, have it monitor the state of the station. Once it is emitting an SOS, the cruiser/carrier could drop out of the current conditional loop and perform a capture. The GBS currently supports this. For the station to emit SOS in the first place, it has to be disabled. This also can be tested for in a conditional loop.No, don't ask, I ain't writing it. Ask my student, SpcFX
