Guest Posted April 23, 2000 Report Posted April 23, 2000 Well, I've just finished playing 'Tribes' and have just seen the most shocking behavior on those servers ever. There we where, playing along, having a good time when a 'tribe' joined the server. Now these boys were good, REAL good. So good, in fact, that EVERYONE ELSE DIDN'T HAVE A SNOWBALLS' CHANCE! Now, I don't mind skill, I'm able to hold my own own, some. My repeated requests for team balancing and my attempts to ask for fair play were not only ignored, but insulted by these 'poor sports'. In fact, they started 'bashing' me for try to cramp their playing syle! They had no compulsion to spawn killing, base turrets and the worst, one a_____e would hunt me down every time, ignoring the actual game objective, capturing the flag! (I even swear, but cannot prove, that these little boys are flooding my IP with pings to slow my game performance!) My point is this, while the BC community does seem to be of a higher ethic, will there be some way to throw players of this attitiude out of the air lock? FORCEABLY? I would love nothing better to eject some 'poor sport' into space and watch their eyes explode! I for one, hereby pledge to utilize BCM as a staging platform for higher game-play ethics. Thank you for listing to my brief ramble.Lance Gosse aka Cmdr Ledge Rock
Rattler Posted April 23, 2000 Report Posted April 23, 2000 You have my solem vow, Commander Ledge, that I will personally monitor and, if necessary, eject personnel with this attitude and mentality. I, for one, will not tollerate bad manners or behavior on any server that I am monitoring. Fair Play aside, I hate bad manners and total lack of discipline.Ladies and Gents, You've been warned. "Uncle Rattler's" going to be watching closely. Play NICE!------------------ Rattler, Insurgent One Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official BC3K Tester [email protected] ICQ 12894104"Long Live The Insurgency, Long Live Mother Earth, And Long Live Battlecruiser Developers and Fans!"
SpacePhish Posted April 23, 2000 Report Posted April 23, 2000 Haven't played Tribe but I see the same kinds of behavivor while playing Delta Force 2. What you got to do is return the favor by wiping their arse so bad that they quit . Ledge, I don't know about the Tribe but maybe they're using a trainer?Rattler, Maybe we outa to form Alliance police(security)?
Parias Posted April 23, 2000 Report Posted April 23, 2000 Indeed.. and believe me, if I spot any so called Insurgents rattling on other Insurgents while they're limping back to base barely in one piece, I'll be sure to let everyone know... after I give em a couple of "friendly nudges" But honestly, I've got some good confidence that this game ain't gonna go to the poopers online-wise. Thanks to the community we've got now, we've practically already got our own policing force going, even if it isn't official ------------------ Cmdr. Eclipse Posted April 23, 2000 Report Posted April 23, 2000 Thats odd, I rarly if ever experiance that kind of behavior in Tribes. Most of the time people are fairly courteous. Do you remember their tags? or the name of their clan.------------------ Cmdr. Antilles Spectre Fleet Spectre Starstation ICV- Eclipse Chief Security Officer Learning is not compulsory... Guest Posted April 23, 2000 Report Posted April 23, 2000 In response, no, I'm afraid I don't remember any names or tribe names. My comment was concerning most multiplayer servers now-a-days. Its sad, really sad that the point of gaming, to have fun, is lost on these selfish players. What good is pummeling an apponenet that is obviously under-skilled? What tiny, warped mind can draw pleasure from wiping out a newbie? Where is the challenge in that? Stategy for this type of player is moot, for thier cannon-fodder tactics detract from the enjoyment of others.Out of desperation I posted this morning, hoping to get my fears calmed that this problem won't follow me into the BCM arena. It appears that it will not, thank you all.Lance Gosse aka Ledge Rock
Guest Posted April 23, 2000 Report Posted April 23, 2000 Well, the very complexity of BC3K would not allow for newbie bashers...since everyone will be a newbie for a loooooong time. Marines an exception (since it will be better than Tribes, but similar since its a quake-type fighting). Not to mention that in BC3K, teamwork will be THE only way to accomplish anything... Player that is king of the mountain on Quake and Unreal Tournament comes to BC3K and thinks that because he can jump like a rabbit on crack to avoid all incoming fire will be quite shocked when he sees a fighter aircraft or tank coming at him.. or the always welcome NUKE from Above (which i think will be quite common hehhehehe). If a player is being ganged up, well, that's part of life on computer games, it's up to the player to get out of that situation. But when players are being offensive, behaving like a$$e$ to others or worse, firing at me then the Server Police should get involved. You know, it would be really cool to give server moderators a "special" kill thing... like, have the receiving end of that function a very gruesome death scene.... Errmm.. ok, maybe not, but it still would be cool *thinks of the Space Quest 3 death scenes*.[This message has been edited by Tac (edited 04-23-2000).]
Guest aramike01 Posted April 24, 2000 Report Posted April 24, 2000 That's the other beauty of BC3K. The fact that either you are a member of a recognized team, or fleet, or you are a loner. And you needn't be a highly skilled player to join the fleets; just the love of the game is a must. In other words, if you are an Insurgent, Galcommie, etc., you'll have plenty of back-up.------------------ Cmdr. Guest Posted April 24, 2000 Report Posted April 24, 2000 Nuke 'em But seriously even though I've dealt with poor players on hundreds of occasions in other games, BC3K is so unique I don't really know in what way people will be able to be bad sports (For example, I can't see being hunted by a specific player over and over as feasable). I'm SURE it will happen, there will allways be bad players, but we have an intelligent enough crew here to figure out solutions to these problems.Number one rule though, don't let them ruin your fun. The second it stops being fun for you leave and either come to a forum where we can figure out a way to stop whatever happened or join a different server. Of course there's nothing more satisfying then finding a way to turn the tables on them and ruin their "fun"
Eclipse Posted April 24, 2000 Report Posted April 24, 2000 Ledge: ok, np. If they had been members of my clan, someone would have been getting a long discussion. ------------------ Cmdr. Gallion Posted April 24, 2000 Report Posted April 24, 2000 Ok, sticking me head out on the platter with my 4-bits minus 2 M/P in BCM will be somewhat different the way I understand it. There will be a host and up to 16 people can join in the pillage and pluder of their mini BCM universe. I will assume - danger, danger - the whom ever sets up the BCM host will have the authority to kick-off whom ever he/she wishes for what ever reason. Now when Galcom Online comes into play that will be an entirely different can of worms. As to Pks - I agree with some of what has been posted. There is no fun or honor in PK, especially newbies or at/near spawning areas.TTFN
Eclipse Posted April 24, 2000 Report Posted April 24, 2000 That depends upon if you have orders to blockade that particular station. I would say that if you just hang around for the heck of it with out orders, yeah. If the fleet is currently involved in a blockade or assault operation, the "I'm a newbie, leave me alone." speil might just only get them a sos signal and a tow outa system. From what I can tell, they ARE in command of a fully armed and operational chunk of metal. They might not know how to use it all that well, but even a newbie can do some damage. It's not exactally like they have to get 50 upgrades before they can even think about combat. at least thats my understanding of the Online play.------------------ Cmdr.
