Tyrn Posted September 20, 2000 Report Posted September 20, 2000 In case someone has already done this (I don't read every post after all) then forgive me when I say "Why didn't any of us think of this before?"A number of users have noted that email addresses are not readily available via the UBB profiles nor can one directly email a poster from the UBB interface. Rattler Posted September 20, 2000 Report Posted September 20, 2000 I believe that the only email addresses that aren't clearly available in the BB profile are those personnel who have chosen to not reveal them publicly. I could be wrong though! I've always had my email address available in my signature, started long before they were available by clicking on the profile box was enabled. It's an auto-link to your email program and is still there for anyone who wants to email me directly. Commander, it's a good idea that you have here. It's a good thing to have those blocked for another reason too - some people use UBB email addresses to fill their company mailing lists. One could just set up a web crawler (such as the ones that are used to compile search engine DBs) to look for UBBs and their profile pages, and then send the email information back to another DB. There is a rather nasty way to make them avoid you though: SPAM Bait.
