Guest dsmart Posted April 8, 2001 Report Posted April 8, 2001 I finally found time to upgrade the boards today. This UBB upgrade is a major upgrade from the previous versions.Lets see if there are any quirks.Am going to be on the lookout for hacks and such. I am particularly interested in a polling hack.
Eclipse Posted April 8, 2001 Report Posted April 8, 2001 Hmm... Interesting things they've added in this update. Everything seems.... foreign now.
Epsilon 5 Posted April 8, 2001 Report Posted April 8, 2001 Huh? I feel like... like... like I wasn't on the BC forum.Feel weird... Well, time to adapt. We don't have to click on "show sig" anymore! WHOOOHOO!!
Parias Posted April 8, 2001 Report Posted April 8, 2001 Kewlies, we get our own little profile photos and stuff.Edit: In other news, I just reached 1000 posts! Hoo-rah![ 04-08-2001: Message edited by: Parias ]
Eclipse Posted April 8, 2001 Report Posted April 8, 2001 hehe we can send Private messages now.... and RATE eachother.
Guest Posted April 8, 2001 Report Posted April 8, 2001 It looks real good, but Netscape just cannot seem to handle it, damn, now I gotta use explorer, YUCH!!! but if I must, I must!! I'll be, all of a sudden Netscape works, WEIRD, But I am SOOO thankful, IE, yuck is right!!! [ 04-08-2001: Message edited by: Jaguar ]

I'm using Netscape 4.7 and I have no problem at all.IE? yuk, yuk yuk...Hey, if I like a guy, and then realize he's a jerk, is there a way to change the rating I gave him?[ 04-08-2001: Message edited by: Epsilon 5 ]

Ben Somerset Posted April 8, 2001 Report Posted April 8, 2001 I go to eat dinner, and I come back to this. Impressive...most impressive.
Parias Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 Hmm, anyone else having oddities with the forum's cookies? Every time I bring up the forum, all the lights are fresh on, indicating new posts. Of course, I'm relatively certain that there aren't people posting in every single forum each time I leave for about 20 minutes... Tried refreshing the page, no change. Normally refreshing it would also refresh the cookie and make everything appear as "Read", but that doesn't seem to be happening..
Eclipse Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 Parias, Try loging out then back in. or hit refresh. seems to work for me.
Guest Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 That happened to me at first too, but after getting into the forum 3 times, it seems to have straightened itself out, at least in my browser anyway. My netscape is working again too, see my edited post above, so strange, but it has all worked itself out, so I am a happy camper!!! Edit: and SC I LOVE THAT "READ THIS FIRST", good stuff, now the newbies can't say they weren't warned!! Maybe it was there all along, but I missed it up til now!! Gallion Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 Initial impression was But the I puttered around with all the bells and whistles and like the new and improved version.Instant UBB code buttons are handy along with the private messaging feature Bottom Line: I likes it TTFNEdite Note: Like how the new Edit Post works. Also like the Rating restrictions: Can't rate yourself Can't Rate a forum member more than once[ 04-08-2001: Message edited by: Gallion ]
Guest Remo Williams Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 Wow!! This really caught me off guard. IMO a vast improvement Thanks SC.
Supreme Cmdr Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 Know whats cool about this version? I can set it so that only registered members can actually see the board. This means that unless you are registered and have been approved to post, you CANNOT access the forum since you would need a username/password.Should I enable this?
Guest Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 quote:Should I enable this? Oh yes!!! Absolutely!! Do it SC!! Edit: after reading the below points by Parias, I must humbly change my opinion, he's got some VERY GOOD Points. I just realized while reading it, I do the same thing!! OOPS!! lol [ 04-08-2001: Message edited by: Jaguar ]
Parias Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 Hmm, I'm not too sure.. even right now, there are probably quite a few people out there who are lurking, whom haven't even registered yet. I personally, upon getting a game and finding the offical site has a UBB forum, don't register when I'm looking for help, I just hop in, dig through any old posts I can find relating to my issue, and move out. If either A) I like the community enough to join, or I can't find the answers I'm seeking, then I'll register and start posting. But generally I just lurk in, grab what I need, and go, registering only if necessary Really though, if people absolutely need to register to even get a glance at issues they might need help with, wouldn't that kinda increase the amount of questions-that-we've-answered-a-zillion-times-already posts? Assuming they even bother to register at all.. hehe
Eclipse Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 I think that the unregistered should still be able to view the forum, there isn't really anything that hiding it would gain.
Supreme Cmdr Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 These are the reasons why I have it disabled.
Guest Mikel Posted April 9, 2001 Report Posted April 9, 2001 I remembered when I lurked around this forums for about 6 months before I finally registered...and then my first post was about a guy asking about artifacts in free-play.Ahh.....
