Charles Lindsey Posted May 22, 2001 Report Posted May 22, 2001 Submission: Put Joke in subject.I'm as guilty as anyone. I simply post and don't use the message icons all that much. I figure the tone of the message gets the tone of the message across. But that is not always the case. We are tripping all over ourselves and insulting each other on the process. If you intend a post as a joke put (Joke) in the subject whether or not you use a message icon. That should clarify things. Even if you use a message icon not everyone looks at them. If a point comes up that warrants debating one should start a new thread. What say you all? Define a joke as a joke and a debate as a debate. In the subject of the thread. (PS: all typos I blame on the humidity and one to many sodas going into my keyboard.)
Guest Posted May 22, 2001 Report Posted May 22, 2001 Agreed. When I first started posting here 90% of every joke I posted was taken wrong, even with the use of icons. Things have been better though ever since Parias showed up... =)

aramike Posted May 22, 2001 Report Posted May 22, 2001 My opinion, this isn't and shouldn't be necessary. If you all want to do it, go ahead. But I won't, because if a joke thread turns into a more serious discussion, big deal! Sure, people can be offended, but hey - that's going to happen regardless of whether or not the debate thread is labeled as such. Also, if someone starts debating in a joke thread, and you all don't want that, just IGNORE it. I see NO problem whatsoever with a light hearted thread turning into a serious discussion. I mean, do we REALLY all need to just post our "LOL"s and be done with it? The best discussions are spur of the moment. If you don't want them, just don't participate. There is no reason for another forum protocal on something that people could police themselves on MORE effectively.
Charles Lindsey Posted May 22, 2001 Author Report Posted May 22, 2001 After thinking on it Mike is right. I'll do it if I ever post a joke but most of the good ones are already used so that's not likely.
Baloogan Posted May 23, 2001 Report Posted May 23, 2001 If i were to post a joke i would first quantify the joke... and then add that quantifation to the subject line...
