I've got a question about copyright on images of the games (screenshot of the bridge view, views of stations, planets, own spaceship, various internal systems, etc.). Can I use any screenshot for my website? Should I submit the whole website to SC for approval before putting it online?

To be more specific, the System computer graphic interface (the one that let you access the Logistix, Navitron, etc.) would be great as standard graphic user interface for a website that want to simulate a communication link to a commander spaceship, but.... if I use it, am I breaking any copyright law (I think so, since all the graphic, as part of the game, is copyrighted by Derek and his 3000AD)? Obviously the website would be totally dedicated to BCM, and would contain links to 3000ad.com website with clear copyright information about it.

Does anyone have got a clue about this issue?

I had the same query(sort off a short time ago) best thing I can say is ask permission first of all before you make the site thats what I did and SC said it was ok but I suggest you ask him first(I did it by e-mail)

Yes, it's the way I thought.

Thank you very much!

Anyway, I do believe this is not the right time to bother SC, he is quite busy with other issues. And also, I still have some work to do on my new website.

Thank you again!

Fan sites should also include the following copyright info:

quote:

Battlecruiser Millennium (BCM), Battlecruiser Online (BCO), Battlecruiser 3000AD (BC3K), and Xtreme Carnage, are all copyright property of 3000AD, Inc.

(Not sure if this is 100% right, but it's the one I use on my site.)

Edit: Noticed that it still said Galactic Command Online (GCO). I've changed it to BCO, after SC decided to change it's name.

You're more than welcome to use anything you like, as long as you display the copyright notice on each page that uses it. Check the other fan sites (or Nova's post) for an idea of how this is done.

And once you get your site up, send word to [email protected] and we'll add it to the fleet links page.
