I hear it gives a performace increase. Good idea? Bad idea? What should I look out for? Any specific files (other than drivers) I should save? Any personal experiences with it?

I have 2 17 gig HDs. I have Windows ME now. Should I wait till I get XP to do it? Or should I see how XP works before I do it?

1. Backup any data you want to keep.

2. Performance will increase until you start adding stuf and pissing around with your HDD (tweaks, etc.).

3. My systems is 1000% more stable with XP-P thatn it was with WinMe. If you go XP do a clean install, not an update install. The choice is up to you.

4. Learn your system. You have alot of blank spots in your System Info Profile. This is basic computing data. How can you upgrade/reformat HDD with OS if you cannot obtain basic data about your computer?

5. Pray

Reformatting HDs? I don't think so... maybe defragging them...

And if you want to upgrade to XP... well, yes, do not upgrade your win98. Do a full XP install from scratch, maybe in a new HD.
