I reformated my computer last Friday, because of another screw up with Windows.... But after.... I tweaked around, and found that Dynamic DNS place and decided to make a server. (Yeah, spur of the moment like that.) So I slave all weekend trying to set up IIS to do PHP and junk. Well, I've got somewhat of a board there, and I'm starting to move on with the site. Visit my site http://twilight-illusions.ath.cx:8080/. A copy of the splash page is here, in case of downtime reasons; the forum link won't work on that copied page, though. (Obviously.) The boards are here. Watch out for some downtime. It's hosted on my DSL with a 150Kbps upload speed (kilobits not bytes; that equals around 12-15KB/sec like when you download with a web browser.) And, downtime is subject to me playing online games or shutting down or crashing my computer or crap like that. It needs work, but I like the forums I've set up so far. They're pretty freeform. Give it a visit; and don't crash my computer please. And yes, I am a Freelance Idiot on Medpacks. (You'll understand when you see my forum.) Consider this a friendly stress test. Go. Now. Fractux Posted February 26, 2002 Report Posted February 26, 2002 My brother and I use No-IP [http://www.no-ip.com/] to direct people to our webserver that host his band's webpage as well as a private RW base station for the clan I play HL and WWIIOL with. It's a handy service for getting around those IP changes that our ISP pull to thwart people's attempts to host their own personal servers. Be it, we're on ADSL like you, and U/L speeds are slow. Epsilon 5 Posted February 26, 2002 Report Posted February 26, 2002 Nah, I'm using DynDns myself too (that's how Nova found out about it).. i currently have 2 hosts, epsilon5.ath.cx and epsilon5.dnsalias.net , one for each computer (eahc have a separate connection). To update my ip that chages each time I log on I use DeeEnEs, a EXTREMELY small and simple ip updater that works wonders. [ 02-26-2002, 00:29: Message edited by: Epsilon 5 ]

That way, I don't have to go to the site to keep updating my IP everytime I restart. Damn, now I've got to start actually putting my site together. And you know how much I like work. :rolleyes
