Longhorn sounds like what computers IMO should be , useable by anyone with average intellegence and a labor saving device. As far as I can see there are still two groups the haves and have nots (computer literacy wise) Gates has always been ahead of the curve because it appeares he can intuit what the average person wants out of a PC. Course if he's feelin charitble he could always donate to the Race Bannon fund for inept BC commanders. I'm sure to get the first check.

If the information is already being gathered and tracked, it's far too tempting a morsel for MS, the ne'r-do-well down the hall or our own beloved governments. Sure most of that data is readily available and as a sysadmin I make use of it regularly during routine audits. Longhorn appears to intent on packaging that information in a consolidated way. While that makes my job rifling my own systems easier, it also makes it easier for someone less scrupulous to rifle my neighbors' machines. I mean, currently one has to gain access to a target machine and then figure out where the data is stored. With Longhorn, when one finds one tidbit, one finds the entire kettle. Personally, I believe in privacy. And I also don't believe than anyone that can move a mouse properly and type more than 5 words a min should have access to all of the computer functions automatically in a way too simplified manner. Just a bookstore, a couple of newspaper sites, and a few others that said nothing about Microsoft. Oh well.
