The Couch tator chronicles: or what are you watching

My wife and daughter(aka The Evil One)went to a reggae festival last week allowing me to watch my father's day gift(40inMagnovox w "Incredible Surround sound") and program my new touch screen remote(it totally kicks a**) as well as catch up on some seroius vegatation. Here's some random thoughts I want to share.

1. The Big Three networks pretty much suck.

After watching Big Brother I quickly found a bible to check if BB3 is one of the signs of the Apocolypse. What a piece of excrement. I then checked TiVo to view reruns of NYPD Blue only to find another wonderful "reality" in it's place.

Lucky me. Please no more reality shows..reality is boring that's why we watch friggin tv.

2. Thank God for HBO and Showtime.

Apparently sitcoms and one hour dramas , which used to be a network staple are best viewed on pay channels. Six Feet Under , Sex in the City,

Street Time and the promising Odysee 5 have taken up much of my viewing time. Meanwhile the networks give us "She Spys". Actually "She Sucks"

3. Welcome Back Aeryn Sun! All I can say is it's about time. The new storylines and new charac-

ters and Scorpious presence on Maya insures that Farscape remains the best sci-fi show on the planet.

4. Odysee 5 , pretty cool...

Saw the previews and was not impressed. Watched the premier and well..it didn't suck.

Last weeks episode about the little girl who could contro genetically altered ants was very,very good ina scary x-files kinda way.

This show gets better every week unlike the dull and disappointing Jeremiah(although the season finale two parter was a big improvement)

The five main characters and the way they deal with reliving thier lives drives this show forward as well as the overall premise of saving the world. Oh yeah and the British guy is real cool too.

5. Baseball sucks a**.

Nuff said

6. The Shield is the most daring , engaging and best show not on pay tv. If you haven't seen it do so asap.

7. Shows that need to just let go and fold up shop.

a. NYPD blue. Too many cast defections.

b. Fraser. What next ? Martin Crane and Marist?

c. ER. For all that's holy who's left to kill off.

d. Any new show made by David E Kelley.

e. Any new show that's a spinoff from a hit show. What's next? Law and Order:SMC (small claims court)

8. Shows that deserve more credit

a. Scrubs. watch it and you'll see why.

b. Malcolm in the Middle. Pure Genius

c. Smallville. Lana is hot,hot hot.

d. The Guardian. Another talented aussie actor

e. The Best Damn Sports Show Period. True.

f. The Dead Zone. Great adaptation crisp writing.

9. Overrated

Will and Grace. They are only the second funniest couple on the show.

Everybody loves Ray. It's no Seinfeld

Alias. How much hot chick running to techno can we stand? okay maybe a little bit more.

The Practice. Will someone get Laura Flynn Boyle a burger? She so skinny if she gets injured on the set they can fax her to the hospital.

Jay Leno. Not funny , just not funny.

8. Underated

Conan O'Brien. The funniest guy on TV. He is what Craig Kilborne wants to be.

BCM. World's best kept gaming secret and I/m not tellin.

Hehe, that just cracks me up.

1. Strangely enough I like BB3, Survivor, And the new Dog Eat Dog. Fear FActor with the gross stuff kinda puts me off but the other stunts are ok. I like watching the relationships develop on the first two.

2. Haven't had cable in years. Dropped it as a cost cutting measure. I miss it but not terribly.

5. And Golf and basketball and football, not a sports guy.

I love Seinfeld. To bad Big Brother is on instead of the 1500th re-run *sigh*

And Backburner, witch is like the Australian version of Michael Moores Awful Truth.

But, other then that.....TV SERIES SUCK.....

hehe the only reason cable exists in my house is:

A: any sporting event except basketball, golf, bowling, and billiards (waaaay to boring)

B:History Channel. i just love 95% of the stuff they have on there.

C:Scifi for the occasional old school star trek episode, or every time they show the new version of DUNE, other than that, farscape can lick my arse, i was never able to stomach that show.

D:Nickelodeon/cartoon network: cmon i have a kid.

i hated seinfeld, i hate everyone loves raymond (everyone but me), king of queens is cool because i was kevin james' bodyguard when he came out here a few years ago b4 i started driving armored cars, hes a great guy, and genuinely funny, while that ray clown tries to force the laughs on you...bah.

sometimes ill catch something cool and off the wall on one of the movie channels. like the other night i was watching this early 80's horror/scifi about this group of astronauts were exposed to some solar radiation or something and 2 died, but the 3rd one survived and started melting away. the cool thing was he needed human cell tissue to survive so he would mangle people... gory and cool, and for the life of me i cant remember the name of the damn thing... scorpio 6 or something...

anyway enough of that.

Me, I don't watch TV that much, unless something interesting shows up. I am more of the SciFi, Discovery, Aninal Planet, History Channel type. Mostly though I am in front of my PC. Big Brother 3 is boring, as well as 1 & 2 before it. My wife loves that show, and makes me watch it with her. What a bunch of backstabbing greed mongers.

I do like Survivor and The Amazing Race though.

Farscape Rocks. So does Stargate: SG-1.

Only thing I really disagree with you on is Law and Order. Those series rock (except the latest one, "Crime and Punishment" (the one that uses real cases in real courts without actors) is way too niche for me to watch reguarly).
