Guest Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 If you like movies like Pulp Fiction, Snatch and John Woo flicks I highly recommend finding this recently released DVD and renting it for the evening. The plot is original and it's a fun, funny, very well crafted movie that practicly no one saw. I was happy to see it finaly get a widely distributed DVD release, check it out.

I usually buy some made-for-cable or straight-to-DVD releases here and then, depending on who is in it. I don't expect much going in because I usually only watch these on Sunday mornings/afternoons in my study while going through paperwork, designs etc. Everynow and then, some* end being pretty interesting and good. Recently I picked up Luck Of The Draw* with Dennis Hopper, Frank Marshall, ICE-T, Eric Roberts and Michael Madsen. The Yards* with James Caan, Mark Wahlberg, Charlise Theron Epicenter with Jeff Fahey, Traci Lords and Gary Daniels After The Storm* with Armand Asante and Ben Bratt Deep Core with Craig Sheffer, James Russo and Terry Farrell Gale Force with Treat Williams, Michael Dudikoff and Tim Thomerson Fire Trap* with Dean Cain, Richard Tyson, Mel Harris and Lori Petty Air Rage with ICE-T and a bunch of folks you never 'eard of If you like Treat Williams, then get Deep Rising*. This was also on the big screen but somehow I missed it - though I'm a BIG Treat Williams fan!! It must've been released during crunch time. As for movie releases, if you liked Pulp Fiction type stuff, get Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Get Out Of Sight too while you're at it.
Guest Posted July 29, 2002 Report Posted July 29, 2002 It has Sean Patrick Flanery who played the late teens / early 20's Indiana Jones in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Great actor. It also has William Dafoe (Green Goblin from Spiderman) in his most uh... interesting role ever. Don't want to say too much. All the other characters are great too. This movie has production values almost equal to Snatch, so it by no means looks like a straight to video production, it just never got a good distributer. Some people must have seen it though as one of the levels in Action Half-Life is a Boondock Saints level. I've GOT to see Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barels soon. I loved Snatch. You'll piss yourself laughing by the end. It is absolutely goofy/funny/ludicrous in the same vein as Pulp Fiction and Snatch.

Very cool flick! - A Murder of Crows-Thriller starring Cuba Gooding is well worth a look with some great plot turns. -Q: The Winged Serpent- Micheal Moriarity stars in this Corman-Cohen production with special creature effects by Ray Harryhousen. If you haven't seen this clever mix of blood , gore humor and x-files / Kolchac the Nightstalker run don't walk to the nearest Blockbuster or Hollywood video. It is a frequent feature at our midnight movie parties and never fails to get a sack of laughs. -Nightmare in Chicago- This is Robert Altman's first film and unfortunately very hard to find. Should you luck up you will see a precurser to the slasher / serial killer movie shot brilliantly in black and white. It's the story of "Georgie Porgie" who never learned to play with others , on a killing spree of epic proportions. -Dead Alive- Please do not Eat prior to viewing this movie. You have been warned. -Freeway- In case you missed this one rent it immediately. Reese Witherspoon , Bokeem Woodbine , Kiefer Sutherland , Brooke Shields and Brittany Murphy star in this in your face remake of Little Red Riding Hood. The one liners alone are worth

Guest Posted July 30, 2002 Report Posted July 30, 2002 Dead Alive is awesome. "I kick ass for the Lord!" If you like contemporary horror check out a Japanese flick called Ring. Hollywood's remaking it, though I'm sure the Japanese version will remain superior. Best not to research too much on it before watching. Just know that it's very good at being creepy.
