Lotharr Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Question SC. When I'm at work and I want to spend some time on something important , I try to get onto this board. They have a program "web sense" that blocks me. Your site comes up restricted as games. Now the funny thing is I can get onto something like Morrowind without a hassle.... I was just wondering if there is anything that can be done to curb this threat to the moral and welfare of our soldiers on Ft. Sill.....from the outside, that is, so as not to burden my already overworked civilian counter parts.
Supreme Cmdr Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 Dunno Sarge. Its possible that Web Sense is blocking cookies. This board uses cookies to store login info, so that could be it I think. Either that, or the US military has heard just how time wasting this forum and indeed the BC games are. We don't want you guys playing around when you should be figuring out a lighting attack on Iraq now, do we? [ 08-01-2002, 06:39 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
Lotharr Posted August 1, 2002 Author Report Posted August 1, 2002 Thanks, I'll look into it. Heh heh...the only thing around these parts to happen at the speed of lightning is trying to figure how to get out of this chicken $hit outfit Thanks go to my DA civilian battle buddies who all suffer from nicotine addiction or poor eating habits or both....well if you can't beat em'.....

By playing BCM, wouldn't the commanders get some inspiration on new tactics for defeating Saddam's forces? Surely this is a good thing.

Heh, heh, too good of a chance to pass up: *"Mr. President, we need to position a Stormcarrier launch a OTS-Bungor at Baghdad before they get nukes.* *GW:"Launch a WHAT, with what?!?" *"A Stormcarrier...A huge spaceship that can carry 12 space based fighters, launch OTS- Bungors....space launched missiles from a capable of wiping out the entire city with no fallout, and pretty much destroy Saddam.* *GW: My fellow American, we don't have any spaceships with Bungors, and we're bound by treaties not to militarize space.... *"But it'd let you destroy Saddam, it'd make your dad happy, and it's a cool toy to play with. *GW: Ok, i'll tear up the treaty, lets make some Stormcarriers!" And just think, if he builds em, he'd need people with experience to command em.

Tyrn Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 According to my sources you can read this forum using idzap (search for it on Google) but you won't be able to see any of the new post status icons and you won't be able to login. You should be able to read the site though. The only way the SC can get around the filter for you is to move from HTTP to HTTPS (a secure server) as Websense can't filter encrypted connections. How long until the vice panderers realize this and move to secure hosting? Best jump off the soapbox right now.
Lotharr Posted August 4, 2002 Author Report Posted August 4, 2002 Interesting...I'll try it because I killed all the cookies and the program didn't even blink... You know that program gives reports (to da' boss man) on what you look at, how long, by name or group....kinda creepy to me...

Course, this is 2002 -- ain't no way that the Thought Police and Big Brother could even exist, much less watch you.... (Bothers me that I don't believe that for a second...)

The minute I received my release orders, my desire to drink dropped to zero. Yet, while in Germany, every one of us was typically out drinking until 3 am, then getting up at 6. This was a daily occurance, at least until they transferred me to Battery Supply so I could work 17 hours a day instead of the normal 10. Workload was ridiculous. I had an advantage I still use on my resume, though... I was the 3rd in command of that office. There was the 1st Lt., then my SSG, then me. The other PFC's couldn't claim that... But, being Field Artillery, and not having a trained supply clerk, we were kinda screwed...
