Strike Fighters Project 1 Warning

PC Gamer did a writeup on this game this month(Nov 2002 Issue). No doubt many of you have seen this game on shelves in Wal Mart.

Seems that WalMart wanted it in stores NOW!, so the team that developed it (Strategy First), released the Press copy that had just entered the Beta stage as the boxed retail version.

It has been recalled, but make sure you don't purchase it until they finish the final version.

For those of you who did purchase it, you can return it to WalMart for a full refund, or you can opt for a free updated version when it is actually finished.

It was one I would've bought had I not been waiting for LOCK ON:MODERN AIR COMBAT.

I think they are re-releasing it next month or so in a complete form.

Heard the initial release still had the press readme, placeholder sounds, etc.

Ya, I knew this was a press release version even before I bought it at Wal-Mart. I chose to buy it cause I wanted to check out the flight models, and see what was already finished. I'll hang on to it till the release. Hope its soon. Seems it has slipped to sometime in October. Me thinks probably in Dec.

Funny how the box never gave a clue to the average joe to what was going on, lol.

Well, I think I'm going to be wary of any title published by Strategy First, since this wouldn't be the first title they've published before the development was done... CRS's wwiionline comes to mind.

Well, guess we need to take the warning down as it seems to be well recieved over at simhq.com. Now I'm glad I hung on to it. I'm just waiting for the replacement cd to reach my doorstep.

Funny thing is, I thought hmmmmm... while I'm waiting, I'll pick up CFS3 and have fun with it till SF-P1 gets here. Wow, that was a mistake! I can't believe how terrible it is. Horrible FM's. Way too hard to get into a stall or spin. A freakin two year old could fly the thing without crashing. Now matter what extreme manuvours you do, you never have to worry about getting into trouble.

The cockpits are also a step back. Some are ok, but most seem unfinished. Also the ground graphics are ugly imo. Altho the plane models themselves are pretty good. ( SF-P1 are much better however )

The one thing I really like so far is the way they did the campaign. I keep going back to that, but then I just get frustrated at all the other glaring defects. I was really looking foward to this one to. I thought, finaly a sim to bring back fond memories of my beloved SWOTL, with all the exotic jet planes. O well, its probably going back to EB. I might pick it back up someday if it gets patced correctly, or if any 3rd party modder's fixes it up.

Woops, did'nt mean to rant so long about this, sorry guys.
