Guest Grayfox Posted October 6, 2002 Report Posted October 6, 2002 anyone pick this up yet??? i got it, so far what i can play of it, its 10 times better than the original. the missions are more involved, theres alot more to the stealth aspect than there was in the first game, AND at the end of each mission you get a rating on how well you did. highest is "stealth assassin" lowest is "mass murderer". then theres the problem... for some reason, it has beef with my nvidia card. im gettin freaky graphics glitches, and the sound is screwed up too. i swapped out my SB Live! card with a hercules card and that still didnt help, so im thinkin its the vid. i tried the "beta" drivers but the game wont even launch lol. other than that, itll run, but will sometimes CTD or just plain lockup. so until someone comes out with a patch that fixes those probs, i guess ill just have to save often on normal difficulty you get 7 saves per mission, so thats plenty. very awesome game... definite upgrade from the first. 9/10
AWells Posted October 6, 2002 Report Posted October 6, 2002 I've been meaning to pick it up when I get the spare cash... maybe next week. I loved the first game and from what you say it sounds like this ones definately an improvement. I think I'll check around about those graphic glitchs before I buy, though... may be worth waiting until they patch it. quote: AND at the end of each mission you get a rating on how well you did. highest is "stealth assassin" lowest is "mass murderer". That seems rather backwards in my opinion. I'm more fond of mass murder than stealthy assassinations... nothing beats playing with the minigun in the final Columbian mission of the original, afterall
Rosko Posted October 6, 2002 Report Posted October 6, 2002 I'm a big fan of the original, I love the piano wire.... I can't wait to play the second edition, and if it's as good as you say it is Grayfox....
Guest Grayfox Posted October 7, 2002 Report Posted October 7, 2002 they got piano wire in this one... and to me it seems more nasty... at least the animation seems more graphic im only on the second mission, but boy did the devs do it right... theres several different ways to complete the mission, either go in blasting, or sneak around and kill... i do both when i beat the first mission the first time (its the same mission thats on the demo) i got the "hired gun" rating... maybe because i whacked 10 people... who knew?? im still searching for fixes for the graphics glitches. but ive read reports where people would have similar systems (processor speed, RAM, gfx car, sound card) and would not have any probs at all. when i find something ill post
Epsilon 5 Posted October 7, 2002 Report Posted October 7, 2002 Do you still look like a white man with a price tag in the back of the head in the middle of japanese people, or you looks a little more blended with the crowd? [ 10-07-2002, 12:48 AM: Message edited by: Epsilon 5 ]
Raven Posted October 7, 2002 Report Posted October 7, 2002 ThatÔÇÖs not a price tag darling, thatÔÇÖs a bar code

AWells Posted October 7, 2002 Report Posted October 7, 2002 Well, at least I can still be funny when I'm sick Anyways, just finished downloading the demo to see how it runs on my system. I'll check it out once I'm feeling a little better.

AWells Posted October 7, 2002 Report Posted October 7, 2002 Well the demo works fine and I finished the mission with 21 enemies and 3 innocents dead, earning the coveted title of mass murderer. Definitely will have to pick this one up.

Shadow_Wolf33 Posted October 8, 2002 Report Posted October 8, 2002 well there goes my girlfriend and what little social life I've got
Supreme Cmdr Posted October 8, 2002 Report Posted October 8, 2002 I was planning on picking Hitman2 up, but I think I'll go for Sniper instead. Here's a glowing review in case you never 'eard of this one.
Guest Grayfox Posted October 8, 2002 Report Posted October 8, 2002 someone should write the same type of review for his video review... whered he learn to act??? JC Penny??? he couldnt read the cue cards even lol. maybe he should stick to WRITING reviews instead of doing them on video...
AWells Posted October 8, 2002 Report Posted October 8, 2002 Hmmm... I think I'll wait for the 'Game of the Year Edition' before I pick up Sniper. The benefits of Lithtech and other engines available for liscencing is that serious developers can get great games out faster. Unfortunately, sometimes I wonder if it's worth the drawback of the flood of crap that probably never would've got made otherwise.
Raven Posted October 8, 2002 Report Posted October 8, 2002 I, personally, think itÔÇÖs worth it. Even if there are more craptastic games out there, there are also more good (or at least ok) games, and that counts for something. Besides, people are going to make crap games anyway, at least this way they have a good game engine
Supreme Cmdr Posted October 8, 2002 Report Posted October 8, 2002 quote:Originally posted by Dragon Lady: I, personally, think itÔÇÖs worth it. ahahahaha!! someone kill me now please!
AWells Posted October 8, 2002 Report Posted October 8, 2002 quote: ahahahaha!! someone kill me now please! Patience. We want to wait until BCO is out and running first.
Guest Grayfox Posted October 8, 2002 Report Posted October 8, 2002 sure, lets all flood the market with crap games that have really good enigines... didnt they try that with daikatana?
Supreme Cmdr Posted October 8, 2002 Report Posted October 8, 2002 quote:Originally posted by Litvyak: quote: ahahahaha!! someone kill me now please! Patience. We want to wait until BCO is out and running first. Oh brilliant! Does that mean that in BCM and BCG mp I get a pass then?
Raven Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 Oh, I admit that it increases the number of crap games, but it increases the number of good ones as well. If I may point out Alien vs. Predator 2, which was an extremely fun game, but was made using a licensed engine.
AWells Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 quote: Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Oh brilliant! Does that mean that in BCM and BCG mp I get a pass then? Sure! Just run and hide from any Gammulan ships to use your pass quote: Originally posted by Dragon Lady: Oh, I admit that it increases the number of crap games, but it increases the number of good ones as well. However, I can't help but wonder how much money less informed consumers waste on games like Sniper each year. The last time I went into the local EB it was hard to miss the fact that a signifigant portion of shelf space is eaten by crap games that are simply designed to look cool on the box. If only there was a organization like ESRB that rated games on whether they had any worthwhile content. [ 10-09-2002, 07:11 AM: Message edited by: Litvyak ]

Its called marketing. And most companies spend more money on this, than on development. If they can sell ice to Eskimos, they'd do it through marketing - whether the excercise is futile or not.
