Raven Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 Yea, IÔÇÖm pretty chummy with the owner of the local game store and they have a good return policy (even if it is only 7 days) so I take a lot of stuff back, and spend a lot of time hanging out there picking out games and chatting with whoever happens to be working there at the time.
Guest Grayfox Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 ill go and buy, and if i dont like it, ill take it to my friend at a local gamestop who gives me more credit than the norm... how else would i be able to afford robotech??? crappiest game i think i ever played was silent thunder 2. the box looked cool as hell, i was stoked cause it was an a-10 game... got it home, and decided next time i would take 35$ and wipe my ass with it and i would get the same effect. so i reverted into making a-10 only missions on my Janes Fighters Anthology game... that was much more fun.
AWells Posted October 9, 2002 Report Posted October 9, 2002 I don't recall ever buying a crap game, except when it's come bundled with another game that I wanted. Granted I turn in games for store credit fairly regularly, since most games even though they're cool they loose thier appeal after you beat them. And I've never had to be... ahem... 'chummy' (I don't even want to know what that means)... with the store owner to return a game. I've even returned Earth and Beyond that I got as a present without a hitch despite the fact EB has a policy against accepting returns of online games.

And it isnt necessary to take games back, but it does help taking back the fifth or so game in a row (or the one where I spilled a bit of pizza grease on the manual). Anyway, I dont get many crap games myself, but every so often I mess up (like I did when a bough rune, gag me with a spoon!), and I like to be dreadfully picky.

In Thief you must often sneak around without being seen and can either blackjack people (knock them out with a night stick), shoot an arrow in them, or backstab them with your sword. I think Dues Ex is similiar but set in a futuristic world. The "Silent" in Silent Assassin implies this. If so, it might be something for me to get.

Guest Posted October 10, 2002 Report Posted October 10, 2002 I never played the first one but I did download the demo and I liked how... +++Spoiler!+++ ...I could kill the guy delivering flowers, take his clothes, hide my weapons in one of the grocery carts the other delivery guy was carying in one at a time, go through the front gate, deliver the flowers, sneak into the kitchen, then grab all my weapons out of the cart the guy was delivering (and proceed to kill every living thing in the house). +++End Spoiler+++ You had to be pretty clever in the Thief games but not THAT clever. Defenitly will pick up at some point. Might wait for a patch though as I had some really funky graphical glitches in the demo as well.

Guest Grayfox Posted October 11, 2002 Report Posted October 11, 2002 in the second one, you need to rely more heavily on stealth than the straight "run and gun" you could get away with in the first. and i went in using the bodyguard disguise... i garotted the guard that comes out of the side door to take a leak... then i drug him into the back door of the garage, picked up the sniper rifle, and popped the don while he was on his balcony practicing his golf swing getting out was a bit harder though

Then I grabbed the sniper rifle and went back to the starting point and shot the Don from there, since none of the guards are alerted if you shoot from the hill.

Last night after work and school I decided I 'd hit Dave and Busters and try to scare a challenge match of Battletech up. When I got there it was pretty late and the line for challenges was too long so I thought I try Silent ScopeII for a while then head home. Half way through the first stage of story mode, I started getting a little creeped out and it dawned on me , the whole sniper thing in DC really made me uncomfortable. Maybe its just me but I won't be playing Silent Scope again without thinking of the poor folks.

(drool) i though i was the only one left that actually enjoyed playing it... battletech AND citytech... aerotech sucked. ok im definitely coming up there for a weekend as for the whole silent scope/ dc sniper thing... i look at it like this. im not popping civillians in the head. and i know the difference between a vid game and real life... ive got the shirt and the VA disability check to prove it

I still have most of my citytech set... well everything except the instruction booklet... the MOST IMPORTANT PART!!!!!. you know where i can get another??? i also still have most of the technical readout sheets and the hexboard, and the little counters... when you mentioned battletech, i totally forgot i had that boxed up in my garage... too funny. well, another topic blown off course by the winds of change. Most, if not all, the rules are repeated in the compendium which is still fairly easy to find if you shop around local hobbie/comic shops or look online.

Guest $iLk Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 I picked it up today in order to cash a check at WalMart. Fun so far... but I've gotten several games in the past 2 weeks and don't have time to play them all. Hitman 2 will be one of the ones I do stick with though.
