I Need a Hemo: Who was your favorite Superhero?

Since my daughter the Evil One watched Spider-man last friday she has become completely infatuated with "Supahemos" as she refers to them. She went from Beauty and the Beast last week to The Justice League. Of course Daddy's proud and no longer has to watch X-Men reuns on the 25inch upstairs.

It got me to thinking when you were a kid who were your favorite "supahemos" and what crazy things did you do because of them.

When I was about eight or nine I was really into the DC universe and especially the Legion Of Superheroes , a young group of intergalactic heroes all teen agers with names like Lightning Lad , Matter-Eater Lad (Could and did eat anything) Shadow Lass , Mon-El (had all Superboys power but instead of Kryptonite , common lead was deadly to him) UltraBoy (Again all superboy's powers but could only use one at a time) Karate KId , and Bouncing Boy(really fat and could bounce like a fat Reed Richards).

Each Legionnaire was issued his own cruiser and a Legion flight ring that enabled them to fly.

They also had a cool headquarters and even had an auxillary group , people whose powers weren't good enough for the Legion but helped them out in a jam. (Stoneboy's only power was turning to stone but it also rendered him immobile)

My best friend Mark and I were convinced they were real and if we figured out how to get some powers we would be contacted to join. We worked on gymnastics , martial arts,swinging from trees,

anything we thought could enhance our abilities.

We even created a superpower formula made primarily of Geritol(?), vitamins , cod liver oil and some ingrdients from my chemistry set and each drank it. No further comments about the results but trust me it's for your own good.

We even made our own costumes and snuck out of the house to go on "patrol" which consisted of climbing on peoples roofs and swinging down(in costume) on ropes at night. Fortunately we were never arrested or committed.

So anybody leap off a roof with a cape? and who was your favorite Supahemo?

Yeah, I remember at primary school me and me mate were Superman and the Hulk having a "Battle". We both got sent to the head master and had to write lines coz they thought we were fighting.

We just thought it was funny so done again the next day (and sent down the office again, lol)

Well I think I missed the superhero thing....but I went GI JOE all the way....the kids in the neighborhood would get together with our fake guns and turn the block into a war zone...of course these engagements often degenerated into battles over who was dead....

When we got older we would bash each other with padded sticks D&D style....a game shared by the kids in both places I grew up.

Spawn was cool for a while.

I wasn't big into the Marvel Comics Super heros, however I was a big fan of the ones on Mighty Mouse.

Mighty mouse is pretty vague for me. Though I do remember some Rocky and Bullwinkle (ughhhh) and Fractured Fairy Tales (those were sometimes cute).

UnderDog and Dudley Dooright. Painful, just absolutely painful.

The Wondertwins (and that stupid purple monkey)

Wonderwoman.

The Justice League of America. Don't forget their arch enemies the Legion of Doom.

Scooby Doo (the oldie good ones)

I'd have to say Spiderman is my favorite superhero.

Actually, FireStorm was my hero, as he wasn't just one person -- it was both a young man and a professor that combined when he was called into action. That's where I finally learned that teamwork was more powerful than any great plan to do just about anything. Only love is stronger, but who is going to attack love with a superhero???

Hmm superheros as a child I had a few I liked

Superman

Batman(his gadgets were cool)

but also Luke from Star Wars(I think though if the prequels were out when I was young it would have been someone else, Jedi's just Rock)

and

Han Solo(just a loveable rogue really)

I used to love the "Feel Good" factor that you got when the good guy triumphed over evil(especially if it was done to a good music score)

Hey I had a flash back today. I was standing on Monkey bars at school in the wind, and I yelled "Oh mighty Isis" I sort of remember this show but not really. Does anyone else?

And ALL the other live actor shows. Land of the Lost. "Marshall, Will, and Holly, on a routine expidition" LOL. Sleestak lizard guys. The monkey boy. The gems.

What WAS that one where the scientists travelled around in the big white three section articulted vehicle?

Dune buggy? Speed Buggy? The one where this old jalopy green volkswagon dune buggy would flash and become this super powered bright flashy orange dune buggy.

H R puffenstuff. Sigmond the sea monster. And what was that one where Charles Nelson Riely was the bad magician? Ths kid fell into his hat and wound up in another world.

And the one where the kids were shrink?

Sheesh that's some old stuff.

dr doom was my favorite. yes i know he was a super villian, but he was a genious, he had waaaaay cooler gadgets than batman, he could whup up on pretty much anyone, and his suit was just cool. i did however like the green lantern... the ring was the bomb... didnt matter which green lantern either, i liked em all.

i was always doctor doom and was fighting my friends as the fantastic 4 or fighting one of them as spiderman...my house was castle von doom, and i was the mad monarch of latveria (the block)

i was always the anti hero or super villian. when we played with GI Joes, i was always cobra cause they looked cooler and had cooler stuff, with transformers i always played with the decepticons... who knows, maybve im harboring some dark obsession with evil lol.
