Guest $iLk Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! Liberalism at it's best.
Fractux Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 Oh no, then the kids won't know how to get a seat on the bus... or realize that they have to be quick to get that last parking spot... We need musical chairs! Frankly, I never remember musical chairs fostering aggressiveness at all. Cheers! [ 11-25-2002, 02:36 PM: Message edited by: Fractux ]
Raven Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 That's just disgusting. I mean really, of all the silliness, what's the point of playing a game if it isn't competitive? But this is beside the point, because musical chairs isn't an aggressive game, and it isn't all that competitive. I mean, gee, what's next, are they going to discourage any type of game where winning or loosing is even possible? What's the bloody point?
Epsilon 5 Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I killed a guy when I was 6 becasue he didn't let me win at the musical chair *pouts*
d8alus Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I smell a revolution in the next century...pathetic, really.
Cmdr Nova Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 quote:Towards a Non-Violent Society, the booklet produced by the Forum on Children and Violence, argues that musical chairs only rewards the "strongest and fastest". ... Instead it says that the booklet "merely advises that teachers might think of less confrontational alternatives". Well, the overall point of it.....Maybe, just maybe, I'll agree with that much. Being in a public high school right now, and being one of those people who's seemed to get so much negative feedback and let-downs from others (not being fast, strong, or simply cool), sure I'll agree about how much I think that kids should at least be taught right enough, so they don't get the impression that they're inferior. BUT FOR CHIRST'S SAKE, MUSICAL CHAIRS. You've probably had an extremely insecure life if you're trying to convince people of this. I feel just as sorry to the person who wrote the booklet, compared to the people she's convincing. (Post 1400. Sw00t.) [ 11-25-2002, 05:21 PM: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
IceCold Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 The point of a "game," is that someone must win, and in order for someone to win SOMEONE HAS TO LOOSE. Thus the 'game' of life.
Urza Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 True enough, but in most games that involve many players, there's some satisfaction to be had for 2nd or 3rd place. In the case of musical chairs, most would consider it a success just getting into the final rounds, even if you aren't the last player standing (or sitting, as the case may be). (Wow, 700. Exactly half as much as Nova. z00t.) [ 11-25-2002, 08:06 PM: Message edited by: Urza ]
Guest Grayfox Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 are these the same *******s that want dodgeball banned? thats completely ridiculous. musical chairs being too violent... please. im sure theres better things they could be doing with their time, such as suing mc donalds, or protesting something the government has done... ANYTHING... my god its pathetic... see what happens when the liberals are given too much leash??? they wind up hanging themselves with it.
DraconisRex Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 quote:Originally posted by Kiran: I smell a revolution in the next century...pathetic, really.Me too. Us that know how to play the games vs. those that don't. Now, who do you think the winner will be, and who will be at the end of a pike???
Cmdr Nova Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 quote:Originally posted by IceCold: The point of a "game," is that someone must win, and in order for someone to win SOMEONE HAS TO LOOSE. Thus the 'game' of life.Indeed. But, in some cases, there are people that simply never win. Never get close. Never have the opportunity. They may have skills, knowledge, and talent underneath, but haven't had the chance to actually realize they've had it. Let me run a quick example. Say there's a school, and during recess, you have to play one thing, say (I hate to do this, Gray :rolleyes) dodgeball. New kid. You've got no reputation. YOu're not very bright, you suck at dodgeball. Simply, you suck, in your eyes and in the eyes of everyone else. I mean, seeing this happen firsthand, I know that since some of these people don't have really anyone else to support them (sometimes family, but sitll), and nothing else going for them, and that'll create problems later. You've heard about school crap going on in the news, so I won't bore you with examples. For real. I think I'd actually end up like one of those people, if my family weren't so supportive of me and such. That, and my intellectual gift help me overcome my own downfalls by observing other people go through their own downfalls.
Fractux Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 I guess when kids get to watching WWF and see chairs being used as potentially lethal weapons musical chairs could take on a whole new meaning. Formerly being a prized gift as a child playing musical chairs could sit down and proclaim, "This is my chair! There are many like it, but this one is mine!!" Now, the chair will be reduced to a simple utilitarian object, on which children can slump to watch their fabled TV sets, and see their formerly prized chairs become the next victim in the ring. But is this the chair's fault? No!! Long live the musical chair!
Cmdr Nova Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Omg, so true. *picks up a metal chair* CAN YOU SMELL WHAT THE NOVA'S COOKIN? Sorry, I just couldn't resist.
Cmdr Nova Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Anyway, excuse my stuff farther up above. Being 15, and having school right on top of me, you can't blame me for having to spread the feelings of teenage angst. It's been so an internet fad recently. But it makes for quite some interesting discussion. I'll want to check in and see what you all have to say. Later. [ 11-25-2002, 10:02 PM: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
chrismoney7 Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Now we have to ban chairs at schools because they are making children violent. Because if they sit in their hard wooden uncomfortable chairs too long they will become horrible beasts and become in the end a new warlike race trying to destroy and conquer the galaxy with evil devices of pain and suffering. Then will become rulers of the universe and then He-Man comes to stop them and then he is defeated then we all die because we have no hope of living. So thats why pre-schoolers are not to be allowed to use an item so evil as a chair. COME ON i played musical chairs every week when I was little. And im not violent. Just extremely annoying with a very over active imagination.
IceCold Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Imagination is the single most important aspect of the mind.
goaliejerry Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 I'd have to say that the ability to reason is the single most important aspect of the mind, with the imagination being a derivative of that.
echo Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 Oh my! Do you know there are actually parents who have an equal amount of chairs as kids, so every time the music stops everyone has a seat. Pathetic! Someone has to lose. How borng to run around to the music and sit in a chair. Where is the end? I wasn't great at dodge ball, I didn't always get picked on teams at school. Sometimes others were down right mean to me. I survived, I am ok. I didn't blow up my school or poison my enemies. I learned. My son watches wrestling, he'll be 3 soon. My friend thinks it's wrong. One day he picked up a plastic chair and hit her son as they were wrestling. I taught him that was wrong, that wresting is a sport and a show, I told him if he wants to hit people with chairs, I will send him to wrestling school. He still watches, he still wrestles, he no longer hits his friends with chairs. You don't always win in life. I wish I could save him from all the hurt he may face but I can't. But I will teach him when playing musical chairs and it comes down to you and the last kid. You better knock his sorry #$@ on the floor and win! hahahahaha No really I think if you foster, self esteem and teach them as much as you can. It may prevent some violence and messed up kids. I also feel in this day and age you can't be raising totally passive uneducated street dumb kids. I have a loof thoughts but o is cying soI guess that's all
Charles Lindsey Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 quote:But I will teach him when playing musical chairs and it comes down to you and the last kid. You better knock his sorry #$@ on the floor and win! hahahahaha Finally. Someone that knows how to play! . Get that hip into it.
chrismoney7 Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 I rule at team dodge ball. I play at a camp i go to during the summer. I play against college football players my social studies teacher and other littler kids. and i go out there and they are all scared of me. I do matrix dodges and know my surroundings. I RULE ALL YOU DODGEBALL PLAYERS. YOU WILL FALL!!!!!. AHAHAHAHAHA. I WILL RULE DODGE BALL. I THROW IT AND BAM They fall to the ground. woah I think i played a bit too much musical chairs as a kid. Guest Grayfox Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 i was actually too stupid to dodge... mongo like pain... but if i ever got the ball, look out, i could put a vapor trail on that puppy. as for the chairs... i was all hockey style. hip checking kids into the glass, tripping, grabbing by the collar and chocking, everything... ahhh memories
chrismoney7 Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 People actually refuse to play dodge ball against me. Im too fast. The only person that has any chance of catching me is this big football player who is like 6 feet tall (im still taller im about 6 foot 1 last time i checked ) who is in top shape and is the only real challenge for me. Other than that im a great sniper, assassian, and jedi master (kinda ) while playing dodge ball. I just remember that "there is no spoon" and i can dodge anything. Kids get so scared they run in and let other people kill them just so i wont get a turn with the ball. I am faster, smarter, and can dodge anything. I AM THE MASTER OF DODGEBALL!!! WHY DID I HAVE TO HAVE THAT LAST PEPSI?!?!? WHY WHY?!?!?
Epsilon 5 Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 quote:Oh my! Ever watched that show where the simpsons family goes off to globex city (or something) and bart goes in a class with mostly mentally deficient people? They play musical chair .. about 12 chaird and 5 kids
