Doctors:

A: The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

B: Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.

C: Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171

Guns:

A: The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000 (80 million)

B: The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

C: Numer of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximatetly 9,000 more dangerous than gun owners.

Fact: Not everyone has a gun, but almost everyone has a doctor.

A relative of mine sent this to me in an email. Thought I'd just share it with everyone.

Well doing some online research about this the camps are split into a couple of groups: People that are dismissing this as a joke, People that are nit picking the statistics to death and what is meant by accidental death, People that think it could be factual, People who think it's factual etc....

I has no idea this info was garnishing so much interest (previous to me recieving it) as to whether it is true or not. The first two groups are probably in the Medical Profession. So far, I have found no conclusive evidence in either case.

I guess in this case that the truth is in the eyes of the beholder.
