jamotto Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Count every "F " in the following text: quote:FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS... (SEE BELOW) WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke. READ IT AGAIN ! The reasoning behind is further down. The brain cannot process "OF". Incredible or what? Go back and look again!! Anyone who counts all 6 "F's" on the first go is a genius. Three is normal, four is quite rare.
Cruis. In Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 cant remember if i did 3 or 4, but finally found them. that is interesting.
jamotto Posted October 1, 2005 Author Report Posted October 1, 2005 Can't believe that the brain could not handle "OF", but it seems to be true.
Ben Zwycky Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 Well I saw six, but I'm a proof reader by profession, making me unusually sensitive to prepositions and the particulars of the English language, especially with the subject title you gave. I guess it would have been better to have a few empty lines before the answer is given so that it's not on the same screen as the test, since when I opened the thread, the answer was in the middle of the screen, spoiling the test.

I doubt it would change anything though, you being a professional proof reader.
