Arizona Bound?

There is a chance that my wife will be accepting a big job in Maricopa(?) county in AZ and the whole family will be relocating from our ancestral home of Western PA. Anyone here from that area or who has been there care to share some information on that part of the country? You know weather, cost of living, entertainment, housing, cultural diverseness, especially school systems, and good (ie..somewhat affordable {$250K, diverse, safe) housing. Let me know if you have info.

Well boys and girls it draws closer. It really seems like we will be making the move and am I nervous. I have spent a good portion of my life in Western PA and love it here but it is too difficult a proposition to work in Human Services here . The wife has been offered a salary about 23,000 dollars in excess of her current salary of about 50k. She is going back out PHX next week and i had not even started looking for anything yet.

After posting a resume on a few sites I returned home after work to find six phone calls and about twenty emails requesting interviews WOW!

Where I work now I am about to have the task of laying off more staff (third round of layoffs in 2 1/2 years) I feel sick everytime I have to do this and know that one day I will be on the short end of that stick.

So this could behappening real soon, but I would appreciate input from you folks if you have an opinion and some time.

A friend of mine who used to live there says this

For the weather it's dry, hot and rarely any rain.

As for schools... you'll be lucky to find one that actually 'teachs' what the student is suppose to know (but then again, Arizona has a better educational system that Nevada does)
