Hmm. Yes SC, you need to explain this. For starters, why must you tease me so? That first .jpg had me doin a double Spock when it loaded up. Thats nearly unheard of.

Do continue. smile.gif

OK, now I'm drooling. That's just wrong, man. *Wiping chin*

Very, very, wrong! biggrin.gif

Btw, is it just me or does that BC have a striking resemblance to the GCV-Tsunami?

I don't know about that, but it kinda brings to my mind visuals of GalCom ships coming near New Frontier! smile.gif

SC, I don't have more than 2 Thumbs so I can't raise anymore for those shots wink.gif! *Chris prays to god to give him more thumbs smile.gif*

SC, I understand how that is, I'm one of those who only has a 56K myself. I am still wandering, when you say MP are you saying that this JUST effects MP and not SP? I know you are making a compleatly different universe for MP for gameplay reasons but in single player will you see more than 1 planatary body? Hope I'm not beeing too quizitive...

I refreshed the 2 images and added a 3rd. These give you an idea of the model de-construction, post-destruction. The dynamics engine introduces a random spin and directional path, to the parts as they fly off. Think of it as the updated version of the fragmentation you've come to know and love in BC3K v2.0x. The original frag code will still be added at some point (once I've assessed performance issues), so that once the model is finished de-constructing, the polys that make up those parts, will still come apart further, and those will form the basis of the new fragmentation.

WOW! The explosions look really cool... can't wait to see the parts spinning off in all directions.

Are there still going to be the "explosion rings" as well??

Man this is gonna be sweet biggrin.gif

Wow! impressive explosion graphics. The ship breaking apart into its component polygons sounds a lot like the freeware game MISC. This is a good thing as the debris and explosions in MISC were pretty cool.

Love the multicolored explosion graphic!

Guest Lightnin'

I don't know; those screen shots from EVE look an order of magnitude better. BCM just kind of seems... washed out?

Why are there so many nebulas?

Am I looking at the same screenshots as everyone else?

I saw EVE mentioned on one of the other boards, and everyone one said that the graphics looked kind of cool, but that eye candy wasn't everything. But now everyone is going nuts over these new BCM shots, and they aren't anywhere near as good as EVE. Or even Terminus.

Why's everyone so excited?

  1. First of all, JPEG compression kills the clarity of screen shots.

  2. Eve is not even a game yet. Those look a lot like pre-rendered concept screens. The lighting is definitely wrong. How do I know? I'm a graphics programmer. If I'm wrong, I'd be pleasantly surprised.

  3. Terminus??? You've got to be kidding. You obviously haven't played the demo.

And judging by the fact that you only registered today, coupled with the tone of your posts, I suspect that you're probably here to disrupt my site. If you thought that Terminus graphics were better, the demo was only out yesterday, what are you doing here and not playing it? Why would you even want to play BC3K v2.0x????

We're watching you. Don't be surprised if you find your posting priviledges revoked if don't behave.

If you think Terminus looks better than BCM, you've REALLY got a screw loose. Hell, even the original Freespace looks better than Terminus does. Sheesh!

Oh well, lets get back on topic before someone decides to steal my radioactive garden gnomes smile.gif

Why's everyone so excited?

Well I'll tell you.

First of all space is full of stars and nebulas... have you ever seen the pictures from the Hubble Space telescope?? Seems to me that no matter which direction they point it, they can't help but find nebulas.

Why are we so excited??

BC3K is by far the most detailed and intricate space game EVER made. A totally persistant universe (the first BTW), excellent AI, space combat, planetary combat control of support craft... I could go on and on... there are too many gaming options to count.

Now, take that same game engine, refine it, add multiplayer support AND awesome graphics!!!

What's not to get excited about?? biggrin.gif
