  1. This is a catch-up from act 3.... app. 5 hrs before the start of this Act I hear you Gallion, and Blades, if you need to modify my time stamps, please do so. [rp] 1300 hrs, SS Vulture RM 14g, deck 1 Angry thoughts running through her head, Ensign Donaldson stomps out of Sickbay. Where the **** am I going to find an Insurgent Uniform? Wake up Wold?? What kind of insane order is that? Better off NOT waking IMO, especially after what happened in Medibay! I'ld be better off helping someone who is REALLY injured! Not realizing the possible impact the next few seconds could have she continues moving down the corridore, though at a much slower pace. Her thoughts take another turn.... Wait a minute....this isn't a sanctioned military effort. I don't HAVE to obey orders. Let the B****** sleep! PERMANENTLY for all I care! A deep sigh escapes her lips Foss, I DON'T know why I'm obeying your order, but.... Ships condition being what it was, Merc. Mel sees a pair of fingers clawing at the small gap of the door before if finally gives and slides open accompanied by a grunt of effort. The apperition that suddenly appeared caused a burst of laughter mixed with squeals and she hated it when she squealed. Ensign Donaldson had swiped the first Insurgent uniform she could find and it definately wasn't cut to fit her. Casting a murderous glance at the Merc., Donaldson heads towards her real task while grating out "All right Merc, Foss wants him awake and I would apprecieate it if YOU keep him from killing me!" Sweat begining to run down her back she injects Wold with counter-agents and immediately backs away. Wold didn't feel the prick from the injection, nor the slight burning sensation running up his right shoulder and down the arm. He did however feel the results of the chemical reaction in the pit of his stomach. Leaning over the edge of the bed, head swirling, ears buzzing, eyes tring to focus, and stench reaching his nostrals he hears a rather gleeful "HAH, it worked!" followed by pounding of boots as Donaldson makes a rapid exit. Several hours having passed, the room is somewhat clean, again. Wold's mind has finally subsided to a low roar minus the pounding throb. The other remaining two side affects being his memory holes and a thin, plastic type cast on the broken left arm. Both being frustrated that the third iteration of the past hours events at not having an impact on his memory. Wold turns to the portable computer and begins searching through the remains of the Vultures computer systems. Unconscience of time he picks his way through systems. The information didn't trigger his short term memory as he had hoped but it did give him a current 'picture' of things. A rather bleak picture at that. Wold was half-way to the closet before his brain caught up with his body. The warning system had abruptly kicked in with the SIF warning, on a surge. Grabbing his gear from the closet and shoving the 'puter into the bag he and Mel race for the door. "CR**!! Savage! The doors are out and he's stuck on the bridge!" Throwing his gear at the Merc, "Cargo bay 1, there is an empty pod. Grab 3 emergency suits and get in that pod w/ the gear, those things seem to survive anything. Now MOVE!" [/rp] Blades, I wasn't sure if you left your character 'hanging' to see what rescue was arranged or if you had something else in mind. If you don't like my next post let me know and I'll zap it. 2. I LOVE cats too! Wanna trade recipes? Actually, I do like cats (though wife is alergic to them) and giving a cat a pill IS an interesting feat. ps, never hold a cat when turning on the vaccum cleaner, unless you're into acu-puncture
  3. Echo, I TOTALLY agree! Parents have GOT to teach their kids that there are consequences for their actions...both good and bad, and they had better start when they are young! Not that it always works as kids do have their own personality, will, and thoughts. Hammer him hard enough now, and MAYBE he'll learn.... ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" External Beta Tester Battlecruiser Millennium
  4. You're right Ben, but Wold's mind is a bit wigged out due to the drugs...
  5. [rp] 12:00 Rm 14g Wold finishes cleaning up and and exits the head more or less with a bit clearer head. Cold, low pressure recycled water tends to do that. However, the chemical warefare, initiated by the medical staff, taking place in his system seemed to have affected short term memory. Directing a puzzled look at the woman in the room "Do I know you? You look hurt..." Mel quirks a smile at him "Yea, you know me and I'm fine. Guess Foss must have addeled your brains a bit there. Here's a quick review, see if you can concentrate a few and remember something....." After his "briefing" the years of ingrained responsibilty of ship command kicks Wolds subconscience into purposeful movement. It was obvious, even in his condition, that the ship had been hit, hard. With a detached sense of reality and the feeling of being 'out-of-body' Wold digs through his stuff in the closet. Finding his computer he hooks it into the Vultures system. Several minutes later a private message to Rattler or Savage appears on communications screen from Wold: ********************************************* RATTLER: Logistix computer appears destroyed, I have patched computer in rm 14g to act as temporary Logistix computer. Limited capability, damage control/repair of CC only. Second, untraced payment for current repairs/parts can be arranged through Pixan. I had, ah, aquired a freighter enroute to this fiasco. Access codes, security bypass files, and manafest sent to your "comm box". Wold out ********************************************* With a tired, woeful glance at his faithful watchdog Wold heads back to the cot, now wondering who this Foss character is and why short term memory seems to have been hit with a shotgun. 6. Welcome Pugwash! [rp]Visitor's quarters are just down the hall, left corridore, 3rd lift up 2 decks. Exit, left 100 meters, follow blue light arrows to visitors quarters. All amenities are in that area. Ensign Drubaquire will help with your gear. 9. Hello and welome aboard. I don't know anything about the 2.09 demo. I started w/ ver 1.0 myself and got nowhere fast. Bought the 2.0 version and jumped in w/ both feet and got pretty much soaked. At which point I decided to read through the Tips and Hints section as well as the New Commanders section w/ no date restrictions. Learned a lot of things there that helped me last more then 10 game minutes. W/ the full version of 2.09 and the mappak installed there is ground combat available as well as missions if you choose the ACM option vs. free flight. BCM, can't say much there. There has been some published articles about it that will answer some of those questions. www.cdmag.com has a pretty good BCM preview writeup by Denny Atkins. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  10. Sorry Akuma, but I or my family won't be able to make it this year. I should be in a new job in a few more weeks (almost double my current income) and during that time frame will be involved in a major office relocation project. However, 2002....
  11. There you go Claude David, an answer from The Man himself. As busy as he is, he still takes the time to personally answer questions..... That's support!
  12. heh, you shouldn't be able to play too many games in safe mode 'cause there aren't any drivers loaded so most games flat won't run. quote:Resets when I exit from any game. Resets seldomly when installing stuff. Resets if I haven't closed the computer for at least half an hour after a reset. Try downloading the drivers again from SOYO, zapping the hard drive and reloading windows. It may not have taken the first time, especially if your PSU was acting up. Also verify, from SOYO that you are using the correct video driver for your System bios... they have 2 different drivers and it is system bios/cmos version related. If it is still failing, I would bet that you have a system board hardware problem. Take it back to that 'puter shop and make them load it up and run it, or replace the system board.+ ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"

  14. Have fun killing those NPCs. Click the start-button on your task bar. At the top of the menu list should be Windows Update. CLick that button and it will take you to the web site. Windows drivers causing resets?? hmmm... I'm a bit skeptical about that answer. Driver problems usually cause GP faults, OE errors, lockups, invalid page faults, etc, not a system reset. However, your new system should have come w/ all the drivers, seperate or on 1 cd. Use those drivers and you shouldn't have a problem. Does the system only reboot in 1 game, multiple games, or just sitting at the desktop? Does it reset in safe-mode? If it does, you DON'T have a driver issue because safe mode doesn't load any. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  15. IF I understood you question, Win98 has a shutdown/restart bug. Microsoft has a patch on their website under windows updates. No, it doesn't always fix the shutdown issue. quote:take that you... 16. Just an update. With EMMENSE relief My wife had her first official baby checkup and everything is going great! At 12 weeks the baby's heart is thump'n and baby is also moving around. See, my wife has had several miscarriages and last time I was within a day of starting a new thread anouncing a comming baby when she had her miscarriage. So it was with many prayers and some anxiety about opening this thread B4 the doctor visit. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  17. Akuma, you do ask some interesting questions. BTW, what are some things that you DON'T call a pregnant woman if you want to continue in good health? 18. http://www.3000ad.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000955.html There are some options listed here about where to find a 2.X version of BC3K. Could also try calling other software stores. The CDRom shop has it in stock, http://www.cdromshop.com/cdshop/desc/p.040421002900.html , for $17.95. There are probably other online or local places to get the game. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  19. You all were very fortunate that it was 35 miles down. Shallower and things would have been very bad. The whole northwest really isn't built to handle earthquakes. It was good to see that there were no deaths in that shaker. Take care and hope you find a job soon. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"

  22. On that website they do have the strappings for changing the VCORE. I would have posted that link, but it was a sub-window and didn't have a URL for that page. I personally did run a 500mhz AMD k6-2 for quite a while on a 250 watter myself.. w/ the AGP, SB live sound car, DVD, CDrw, 2 hard drives, network card, modem, and generic floppy. My motherboard finally died so now have upgraded to the AMD 900 Athlon. Anyway, it depends on the integrity of your current PSU. If you need another PSU, go for the 300 watter. They aren't that much more and it gives you more breathing room. quote:... I could use windows 95OSR2 BTW, USB has nothing to do w/ not being able to go back to win95osr2. There is USB support for that version. Nope, the problem is WIN95 and WINosr2 have a serious timing bug w/ AMD 500 K6-2 processor. Supposedly it is intermittant. NOT for me! I couldn't get windows to boot in safe mode, or regular mode -- get a 1 line error and frozen computer, every time. There IS a patch on good 'ol MS website. Course the problem w/ Micromush is that the patch is ONLY executable from WINDOWS!! I finally figured out a workaround, but it was a good thing that MS programer wasn't around... grrrrr. Trust me, it isn't worth the headache. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" [This message has been edited by Wold (edited 02-25-2001).]
  23. Epsilon 5, you mentioned not being able to find anything on the web about your system board. I'm not sure what search engine you used, but here's their main web page: http://www.soyo.com.tw/ According to their web site, tech support section, your system board voltages are changeable and for your current setup, VCORE is supposed to be set at 2.4V NOT 2.2V. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  24. In my experience cpu's of any make don't run under voltage very good. However, they do build in slight OVER-voltage protection. That is 1 of the things that gets bumped up a step or 2 when over-clocking a CPU. That creates more heat. The max heat rating for you cpu is 80c. Most system boards have ways of adjusting the voltages either by CMOS, or by jumpers. Get the system board manual and dbl check. The reason is, most systems can handle a range of cpu speeds. There is often different VCORE settings for different speeds, that's why most are adjustable. There are some board out there that autosense the CPU and set the VCORE and I/O voltages automatically and these you can't adjust. Also, there's the option that Parias suggested, buy another PSU. If you do, get the 300watter. more watter's the better. Keep in mind, that the voltages the CPU uses are regulated by the system board. 5v is pulled of the PSU then run through a voltage regulator on the system board to get your 3.3v and 2.2v. W/ sound an vid built into the motherboard there isn't much you can yank. Yank your ethernet, unless it's built in, then see if it crashes, if so, put it back in and yank the next item ie, cdrom, then see if it crashes. If this is a new machine then you should still have the warranty option. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  25. quote:That's a lot of TLC to put into a community. It is at that!! Most programers/developers seem to lock themselves into a rubber-room and hide from the general public. Echoing Pkzip... THANKS SC! That seems a pretty good article by MMOG. I especially liked the part where he was having problems running the game and actually admitted he hadn't read the FAQ and that that was his problem. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
