  1. oh my freaking god. I don't believe they would EVER finish it. I just hoped they fixed the "flying scout" exploit where a razor could jump and stay so high that a tank could not aim high enough .. hhmmppff. Edit : I didn't read it all quote:A special note: one of the bugs fixed is the infinite flying bug present in BZ2 1.0 - 1.2. This was removed because it is considered to be a bug by those of us who worked on BZ2 from the beginning. It is not due to complaints from "newbies" or the like. Certain people certainly feel strongly about this. Fine. Your feelings are not an argument. Whining about this will not change anything-- we've heard such complaints for years, and your comments will only serve to harden our resolve in this. If you still think you must comment, see here. BZ2 is maybe my favorite all-time game. I played BZ2:FE and also the G66 mod .. and the AI is just unbeatable at times (playing easy 2 players vs 1 ai and we had trouble) .. but the memory leaks were just horrendous ...
  2. SEGA has been bought out by the Japanese company Sammy for $1.4 billion American. They will now serve as a subsidiery company for Sammy, under the title "SEGA Sammy Holdings Inc." http://www.forbes.com/business/businesstec...rtr1375132.html Looks like the giant is dying .. only 1.4B
  3. quote:All these fancy dancy new phones all need their own separate power, the old bell phones just used power from the phone lines, and they were heavy duty, just as you said. I love that phone, I keep it lovingly in a small box, wrapped in foam pad to keep it safe. LOL well we have one of those "fancy dandy new phones" with a screen and lots of options .. and it still works even when the power is out, like you like so much.
  4. I know someone i play with is an M1A1 tank commander .. he's either a sergeant or a staff sergeant, something like that... he went in iraq for a year and says he saw too much
  5. fine. sue me, I'm tired here. deleted my post.
  6. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: And people wonder why I homeschool my kids..... I have run into this ALL the time, these kids are just clueless. I make sure that I give them ALL of the money up front so that they can put it into the register without freaking, because I have had the EXACT same thing happen to me, the girl actually burst out crying. I couldn't fricking believe it.... I was totally blown away. gee .. I've seen cashiers hesitate for a moment or 2, but that bad?
  7. quote:Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left York at 6:36 p.m. travelling at 55mph, the other from Peterborough at 4:19 p.m.at a speed of 35mph.That guy confuses english and maths .. quote:She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like that sound a dog makes just before it throws up. .. and that one got issues!
  8. quote:Holler random numbers while someone is counting.I do that also Laugh (seemingly) incontrollably at every 3 word when telling a joke (best when combined with a forgotten punchline) Clear your throat. Again. And again. yes, keep clearing your throat. Ask for a quarter. When you get one, ask other people in the vicinity for quarters. In the winter, keep cursing incessantly about the [bleep]ing cold weather, snow, etc. Make sure you mention it's over 30c/80f in florida/california At a bus stop, ask each person waiting when is ## bus is coming, even after you got an answer. Flip a coin at a table while letting it fall on the table or floor, repeateadly. Keep your big backpack on you when standing in a crowded bus Never go to the back of the bus when you have to stand. Complain when people try to push you so they have space Ring the bell for every stop in a bus. (Try not to get noticed of the driver will kick you out) Stand on the edge of the sidewalk as the bus comes to a stop and move back 2 seconds before it stop since it's not the one you're waiting. I could think of many more Thanksfully i don't do most of these hehe.
  9. Bah even if there was a draft I'd never survive basic and I'm quite serious. Is there a part of the military (engineering?) where you don't have to go through basic? just curious.
  10. quote:Telephone 101: Most of Americas' Telephone system was installed by the company that bore the name of the man who obtained the first patent for the Telephone. The Bell Telephone Co. spread far and fast. When the company approached monopoly status, our steadfast stewards in DC deemed it appropriate to bust the company up. On the technical side, we have enough "old" copper telephone wire strung on the poles to go to the moon and back numerous times. Therein lies the problem. The lines are very old. They do fine for carrying voice signals, but high speed digital signals run into some serious roadblocks like chokes and amplifiers. We have so many little telephone companies now,(We call them Baby Bells) that it wouldn't be economically feasible for the older and larger ones to string new wire. Well .. i wasn't aware of that so much .. however In Canada all telephone lines belong to Bell Canada. If you make a local call, you go trought bell, no way around it. Only with long distance calls you can go through a different company. Which it IS a monopoly, there are federal regulations as to price limitations, just like the price of energy. If the price needs to go up, the companies need to ask the federal government, which has all the rights to refuse (and does at times). I'm not sure about the other provinces, but Hydro-Qu├®bec (energy) is a public company, yet Bell Canada is a private company. As far as old wires - this is probably related to the fact that there's no monopoly. If my memory serves me well, it was because energy was privatised in california that there were brownouts. Too busy about the competition and they just don't maintain the system. It is a reason why Qu├®bec is a prime area in N.America for telecomms, because our lines are well maintained. Furthermore, if we need more speed, i think we should look for VDSL technology first...
  11. quote:This new Broadband will be Broadband over powerlines, which we have EVERYWHERE, so everyone will be able to access the internet by pluggin a modem into the nearest socket of their house. And taxpayers will pay for that? Most of the population in Qu├®bec have access to both cable and DSL broadband. Lines have been installed/adapted by the cable/phone companies, and the broadband network in Qu├®bec is one of the fastest and most reliable (and cheap!) in America. Why can't the US companies do it themselves?
  12. Check out this rant, about the Half-Life 2 delay....... Read it here It's by, none other than Planet Half-Lifes' Editor, apparently, he's had enough and has decided to hit the road.... A couple of short excerpts: "But the bottom line is this: I am not a fan of Valve anymore. I don't believe a damn thing they say and I'm sick of their bullshit." and... "Valve needs to learn how to properly communicate with their online fan base and treat their fans with respect. That means not telling your fans 7 days before the ship date that HL2 is delayed. That means not giving out vague "oh HL2 will be released this summer and by the way we didn't say summer of what year and it's always summer somewhere in the world so who knows LOL we'll see!" answers to direct questions." hmm ..
