  1. I've heard that there is an Insurgent play mode (in the same way you choose Free flight or ACM at player registration), but I have v2.09 (from the 3000ad site) and there is no such mode in my list. Do I have to download something special (e.g. a patch) or is my game the problem?
  2. For those of you who are quite new, here is a quite useful trick for destroying the Multinational/Raider station Pixan at Lennen/Sirius. I don't like using missiles (I actually sell them all at the start of a game), but I've found the weak point in their defense grid. 1. Destroy all resistance. Station Pixan have only fighters for defense, so your battlecruiser should do the job quite easily 2. DON'T go near the station without the best shield available, the Linear/IV, or you will get blasted by their big missiles. Then, get UNDER or OVER (I've went on the sunny side). 3. Get to your turrets and maingun maximum range, which should be 20 units. 4. Start shooting. As the base move onto it's orbit, you will have to move many time before you can capture it (if you managed not to destroy it). I estimate that the base minimal attack angle is about 20-30 degrees. That way, you could make an easy kill, lot's of exp's or capture a base. Remember: if you want ot capture the station, don't forget to turn off your PTA system off when it's near death. It takes about 10 or 15 minutes to complete if you do it the right way. It works for all stations with the same design. Good luck.
  3. The worst I've ever did is that: In free flight, I had a fight against a bunch of Gammulan Military in Earth sector. At the end I managed to bring back another battlecruiser that was SOS. I was so happy I could bring back one multimillion $hip like mine to Galcom HQ! But as usual, I made a close "fly-over" the HQ, but the damaged BC hit the station and went BOOM!... Well, here goes my bonus...
  4. I re-downloaded the 2.09 patch on the 3000ad website, deleted my save directory content (I wasn't very far anyway) and re-patched. Now, I restart the game in normal mode. It detects the 1024kb Cirrus Logic graphic mode and... it works?!? Further tests confirm it: the Stalker-IV is now on duty!
  5. Thanks. I will stay with 2.08 until I upgrade my video card, which will happen (I think) soon.
  6. Well, well. I have bc3k 2.00 on my install CD. I later upgraded to 2.08 successfully. Then I upgraded to 2.09, but when the game tries yo start, it gives me a DOS/4GW protection fault (you know, these long complicated errors wich are the protected mode version of the Win BSOD ). Here is my system description: Pentium 150mhz, 32mb RAM 1.2gigs HDD, still 300mb free after patch installed Windows 95 OSR2 english, DX 6.01 1mb Cirrus Logic non-3Dfx video card with C.L drivers (not Windows's ones) Soundblaster 16 audio card Nothing runs in the background (except W95...) My CD isn't scratched, my 8x CD-ROM drive works alright. And the 3000ad technical support give me an automated video problem response e-mail that talks about only 3Dfx and that don't help at all...
  7. Well, for, the oldest computer I've ever got was a portable 286 10mhz (well, it was not that portable but I have a friend who have a collection of 386, 286, 088, 086, Tandy 1000, Atari's, Commodore 64 and a Pong game in a wooden wooden box (Men, this IS the future...) Of course, he also have 486's, Pentium I, Pentium II, Pentium III and one AMD Duron. He's waiting to upgrade that last computer to a genuine 1.2GIGS AMD *THUNDERBIRD* computer! He's not planning on buying any P.IV, he doesn't like them (they don't work!)
  8. Stop wining about your game speed. But I have a Pentium 150 with 32mb RAM, 1mb non-3Dfx card and win95 OSR2, and the games runs from 3 to 12 fps. How could you have a game so slow with a more-than-recent computer ? Maybe it's really Windows that slows down the game.
