  1. Hi Guys, It's been a while since a posted but it's good to see there are still some nice games around. Just took a quick peek at the shots the latest UC games but where did they go?
  2. Kinda late but orderd my copy. Just need time to play now
  3. Heh, thanks for the update. Going to order it right away at simw.com.
  4. Thanks for the info. Ordered the X52 and checked a bunch of reviews and most of them were very good. Will receive my Saitek combo tomorrow. I haven't played LOMAC for a while because since you need a HOTAS combo to play it IMHO. I was kinda dissapointed in the TM F22 product because a metal-part broke and it was hard to get spareparts and i read that the pots are still a problem in the cougar. That's why i chose Saitek insted of the Cougar. Guess i'll be trying the Su-25T soon
  5. Interesting. I'll be looking forward to it. It still like playing OFP. http://www.armedassault.com/
  6. The fact that you have a squadleader and a commander is cool. Didn't know this the first couple of times i played it. Special forces can really be used for special tasks. That is to take out the UAV, radar and artillery [ for those who did not play it yet ] with C4. I have played a bunch of games last days and don't understand why ppl leave the commander unoccupied. You can beter have a bad commander than no commander. If you have a couple of good squadleaders they will place the UAV or the artillery on the on the right place at the right time. The damaged UAV, artillery are fixed rather easy because you can drop supplies nearby and it is automaticly fixed. this makes an engineer kinda obsolete. I guess it works as designed but it feels like cheat to me. If i can choose i'll take the losing side and it's more fun too see if you can make a difference if there are not too many players that is cause it won't matter then. The only problem is that many ppl don't join a squad which makes the commander ineffective but that is an old multiplay problem i guess. I think i might buy it but i'm gonna wait for some more reviews.
  7. Hmmm, is wish u didn't tell me but i guess i have to buy it . But looks very nice. I have to get throttle-stick combo first because Thrustmaster set is broken. I'm going for the Saitek because Cougar is too expensive for me right now.
  8. Seems like a nice add-on for Lock-On. Here's the link where you can get it (CD or download). http://www.lockon.ru/ Here is a article about it at SimHQ. http://www.simhq.com/_air4/air_130a.html
  9. Played the demo en enjoyed it a lot. Not sure if i'll buy it though. It kinda has a Joint Operations feel to it. Maybe they should have called it JO II. The units, the stingers, etc. I think it's better than BF1942 DC.
  10. This looks pretty cool Drop Team It runs on Windows XP, Linux and MacOS with multiplay. Some points from the features which seem interesting. * Deformable terrain with engineering vehicles digging out trenches in real time, ordnance created surface cratering and even trees toppling over under artillery fire. * Huge, detailed and varied alien landscapes each planet accurately modeling its own gravity and atmospheric density, radically changing the tactical situation. From the forums i understand that there be no infantry in the intitial version. Probably later with an add-on.
  11. quote: I do have a question about DW, though. When launching an MH-60A from the FFG, does DW allow you to switch to inside the helo (much like, when you launch a shuttle from your Command Craft in UC, you can switch perspectives)? No, not as far i know. You can control it with waypoints or have the ship control the helo where to go but it doesn't switch you to the cockpit. You share sensor data etc and you can get a remote view of a target. It can attack a target Guess you're going for SH3 now Never tried it but you can access different stations in the same unit (P3-C, FFG-7) with several players.
  12. Dunno really 'cause the're kinda different. In the modern subsim you generally use you're sonar sensors and not the periscope. In SH3 the periscope what you use to collect you're data to start an attackrun. I agree ShoHasi that Dangerous Waters is more complex but like Denny mentions at high realism [sh3] level it requires skill to make the torpedo's hit. The graphics are great in SH3 and the sea is truely awesome, the high waves, the sub , the explosions. Dangerous Waters are good too though but SH3 are great! Personally i favor Dangerous Waters since you can play different platform types like frigate, helo, plane, sub. Same thing is comparing a WW2 flightsim (IL-2)with a modern flighsim (Falcon 4 / Lock-On ) i generally favor modern sims. But since you already have some modern navalsims , ie Fleet Command and 688i, you might like to try something else.
  13. No not really but you can me a mail if you like. Ik can check if i can help you. The only problem that i encountered was that over a longer period of time [ 1- 2 hours ] when i get lazy and start to mumble and you don't articulate well the speech engine/shoot is lost. You have to restart it. It's starts lowering the shields when you don't wont to.
  14. Thanks i'll check it out. Was suprised to read [ Submarine Commander ]the Japanese were tracking them with MAD. I thought they invented that much later.
  15. True the Graphics are awesome. I seems to have graphics glitch though with some screens. The waves are very nice though. For those who are interested. I bought i pocket book i think about 10 years ago and i thought this was the right time to read it [ it was shelved al this time ]. It called Submarine commander by Paul R. Scratch [ isbn 0-671-68466-3 - something like 380 pages ] it's a very informative book and it shows how it was really like in a sub during the WII years and later on. Nice historical read.
  16. Just wan't share this. If you're into modern naval combat you must buy this game! Just this week i received my copy of Dangerous Waters DeLuxe version with a 570 page manual like in the old days [ Falcon4 anybody ? ]. If you're familiar with SubCommand and you like it then you'll love this. Particulary that you can play it from the view from the surface units. The FFG-7 Oliver H. Perry alone is fun. You can Launch Harpoons, Torpedo's, an MK75 gun and i even took out a few virtual terrorists in a high speed patrolboat coming my way to blow themselves up but i took them out with my CIWS . Missions are basicly like in SubCommand but it also has a quick mission generator. Another new aspect are the buoys which you can drop from the FFG-7 , P3-C and MH-60R to find subs. Like i mentioned in another thread the voicecontrol works very nicely. Phrases like; make turns for 8 knots drop DICASS buoy shallow come left to course 225 raise the ESM mast Makes you really feel like a commander. Note that it's not a flightsim you just give the pilot orders that's just not what this game is about. You can control it however. The aircraft have sensors like MAD, dipping sonar, radar etc. btw: noticed that battlefront has some other nice sims comming up like a tank sim [ T72 ] and a spacebattle kinda sim have to check that out too.
  17. Missed this thread somehow but anyway would like to point out to this software again. It's great! I ran into it since i was playing Dangerous Waters where the voice recognition works perfectly. Then through subsim.com where i found that people used it for SH-3. For those who are not familiar with it you can download it from http://clans.gameclubcentral.com/shoot/ Install the Speech Recognition engine first an make you you train it well then all should work without too many problems. Initially in Dangerous Waters it didn't work that well but it works like a charm now. I was suprised that shoot worked that good .It is particularly useful with key sequences. Like so, code: <command name="Orders Menu Defend Me" phrase="orders defend me"> <key type="ESC" /> <key type="F1" /> </command> <command name="Orders Menu Defend Target " phrase="orders defend target"> <key type="ESC" /> <key type="F2" /> </command> <command name="Orders Menu Engage target" phrase="orders engage target"> <key type="ESC" /> <key type="F3" /> </command> <command name="Orders Menu SAD" phrase="orders search target"> <key type="ESC" /> <key type="F4" /> </command> It really gives a new dimension to UC. The profile below basicly the same as the other profiles above but i like the logical structure they use in DW. Example target next target previous target priority pta on pta off etc. Have (another) look at it, it's a lot of fun. http://www.xs4all.nl/~mfxsfa/UC.xml
  18. Hi Guys. Sorry that i don't show up at multiplay days but i just don't have enough time. I have to study in the evening hours after work and have a enough exams to keep me busy until may/june. Will try to drop by if i can but i won't be often i fear.
