  1. Hehe: i am extremely intelligent and very wise. i think logically and rhetorically in order to get problems solved. if i'm not mad now, i'm getting very close.
  2. Indeed. Like I said. I dogfight with a cruiser. There's no such thing as "too close for comfort" unless we've crashed into each other. There's at least 1 blind spot in the PTA system of every ship. I try to use that to my advantage. Seriously. If you see a cruiser run head-first towards your ship, with lasers firing full blast, with no slowing down in sight, expect it to be me. If you see a cruiser hovering inches from the hull of another capital ship, expect it to be me. You'll want to expect every surprise possible in multiplayer; otherwise, you're doomed. There's probably tons of different things I haven't accounted for yet. (Cloaked enemies really really screw me on trade runs, when I don't put power to sheilds or weapons, to conserve Radine.) The best strategies are the ones you are comfortable with. If you think running a Firestorm really isn't your thing, then try something new. Or, think of a completely new, unique plan that's crazy enough to work. That's the replay factor of BCM right there--you've always got something else to consider, something else to work for, more to plan and strategize, more to try out. Expect the unexpected.

I set the cheat to give me ONLY money, but instead it gives me money, fleet command, full AI, all Artifacts. How do I get it to only give me money? thats the only thing I altered in the playmod.txt file. Or did I do the processdor(SP) totaly wrong? (SP) means spell errorIf you're running from the command line, or batch file: playmod set finances (amount) If you're using a cmd file, just put this line in the command file: set finances (amount) You don't need "set cheat x". I'd rather set the options myself, personally. Read the readme. Then read it again. When you unzip playmod, it's under docs, as "playmod.txt". Then try to use the information in there to set your own batch file or cmd file (cmd files load the cheats faster and such). Then read the readme again. And then lather, rinse, repeat. Seriously. That's how I learned how to do it.
  4. Here's my combat strategy. Power settings for logistix and weapons and whatnot. Shields. Max it out. Full power to weapons, too. PTA, at 100%. IOD at like 50%. (For faster fire rate.) Engines, full power. ----- Use afterburner (tilde key) to get as CLOSE as you can. Point blank = better. Lasers = good. Missiles = not so good. If you can stay inside the laser arcs, it's a piece of cake. Of course, this is a ton easier with a cruiser, which is my specialty. Speed, small size, and maneuverability all make it extremely formidable against any cap ship. I can run circles around a Stormcarrier. Lol. I don't have much experience with carriers, so I can't specifically help you with Firestorm vs. Stormcarrier tactics. Later.
  5. Email sent. I gather that you know how to transfer foundership of the room, so I'll leave that to you.

  7. Pending my registration to the Prime Forums, I've also noticed that your chatroom, on the Webnet IRC Network wasn't registered or anything. I run a couple rooms on Webnet, so I'm fairly in the know of the services there. I've registered it for the time being, until someoen else can get on later, at which point, i'll transfer it to them. If you have mIRC, you can access it through: irc.webchat.org (or irc.webmaster.com) #galcom-prime Or, you can access the room from the regular chat applet (linked to from the Prime Forums, and above), or the newer version of the Webchat thing, here. If you see "G|R" in the chatroom, that's only my bot, so don't worry. Otherwise, if you see "Mike`", then that'd be my usual nick. More times than not, a connection "@*swbell.net" would be mine, considering I like to use lots of odd nicknames whilst on chat. Out. [ 11-21-2002, 05:48 PM: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  8. omfg. THat has got to be one of the coolest console things EVAR. EVAR. The game looks great, too, to tell you the truth. Man... It's a shame I'm broke.

  10. quote:Originally posted by LBM: At the end of the day it's up to you. All ships have their strong and weak points. You just have to find one that suits the way you play. I enjoy combat so fly a carrier. The best thing to do is check the appendix and look at the stats of all the ships and see which one weighs out in your favour. XD I enjoy combat, so I fly a cruiser. Bet you've never seen a Warmonger try to pull some dogfighting moves, have you?
  11. 40.72 is WHQL Certified. Windows XP/2000 Windows 95/98/ME There appear to be two different versions for Windows 2000 and WinXP now. I'm grabbing it right now. Don't know if any changes at all have been made since last iteration (besides WHQL Certification) have been made, but I kinda doubt it. (Same ver. number and all.)
  12. Good luck, man. Best wishes, and get better soon.
  13. quote:Originally posted by Urza: I hope this doesn't fall into the above category (I searched the VCF for "perscan"), but the location and FF of some personnel aren't being displayed in perscan if their FF is above 85 (approx.), and their LF is above 90(approx.). To replicate, try shutting off power to life support for a little while. As the crew gets injured, their LF will go down, and their FF will go up. This alone probably won't allow the crewman to fit the above criteria, but when a medic comes along and patches up the crewman, his LF will probably go back above 90, leaving his FF above 85. I also noticed that if I restore life support, and send the crew off duty, the information will gradually reappear as their FF falls below 85. This applies to all people on board (although I can't verify prisoners, guests, and intruders, I would guess that it applies to them as well), except for the commander, whose FF is perpetually at zero.Sorta got same thign. In 16bit, if a person's FF or LF is in the lowest range (0-30?) then the text is like, black, which appears invisible on the black background. I've used Commlink or Roster to get around this at some times. You can also play in 32bit, where the color scheme for Perscan is different.
  14. Um... Everything's a mess? Logistix says "Bridge - 0%", and you're forced off station? That's as far as I can describe it.
  15. The version of BCTE you can download is the latest development version of it, before the project was canceled. You can't run it with BCM, because it was being developed before BCM was released, and 1) code has been seriously patched, and 2) IIRC, it wasn't built into that dev. version yet. You'll haev to wait for BCTC to come out to be able to do that kinda stuff again. Sorry. But anyway, if you need anymore help, just ask. Thread Closed. 16. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Power wouldn't have been a big deal because worse case scenario, he could've shutdown power to everything but the reactor, allocate power to launch control, launch the shuttle and then give power back to critical systems. And if there was no Radine, then he could've just re-oriented the ship's solar arrays and used the converted solar energy to power launch control. Lots of possibilities.Of course... The bridge was kinda destroyed, so... I kinda wouldn't be able to control the ship to re-orient it, taken the fact I wouldn't be able to get on station. It was a mess. 17. Heh. The life of a mercenary. Have you ever been in one of those moments where something comes out of nowhere, changes your whole view on things forever, and takes you to within inches of your life? Well, this is how it started. I was doing trade runs in my good ol' Starwarrior (fastest HJ speed in the known galaxy, mind you), when I saw a little skirmish between some Gammulan mercenaries, some police forces, and some Insurgents. I was kinda down on the cash, I decided to go in for some easy kills while everyone was preoccupied, and see what kind of cargo I could pick up. Ruthless, I know, but still; it was getting to the point where I wouldn't be able to refuel the ship anymore. I'd already had to deal with many many intruders, and had gone through a whole compliment of marines getting killed and having new ones hired. I've already had to get hours worth or repars of the ship done. And replacing a destroyed shuttle. And re-fueling. And etc. Life was a *****. So, like I was saying, quick profit. I went in, but by that point, the Insurgent capital ships had been destroyed. I decided to just hang around for some fun, and destroy whatever remaining enemy fighters and such were left. I took out about 4 or 5, and decided to head back to the station before heading back to my rounds. Refueled, bought the goods for the trade, and headed off. And there it was. RIght by one of the moons of Cyron-IV, in the middle of blank space, was this Insurgent transport ship. Just sitting there. No reason whatsoever. I was like, "okay, whatever, fool," and decided to go grab it for some profit at the station. Sent out a shuttle to go grab it and deliver it to the station, whilst I waited along in orbit. And then, it hit me. "There's something out there!" Yeah. Too late. An Insurgent Aestrom uncloaked just a handful of kilometers from the ship, and began to open fire. As usual, I left shields and weapons off to reserve fuel. My big flaw. One by one, systems went down, until even I had to leave the bridge, as it was destroyed. Then the fire stopped. The Aestrom disappeared and left. TacOps was down, Tactical, Logistix, everything. The ship was screwed. Integrity was at 39%. Armor was down to about 300. Reactor was breached, life support down, radiation everywhere. I suited up, and jumped out of the ship for a spacewalk. From there, I could access my own TacOps map, and work from there. I ordered the shuttle back to tow my ship, and waited. Hopped in the shuttle, and went about from that point on. The Aestrom was back in the middle of that battle with the Police and Mercenaries, but I didn't care much. There was a Terran Insurgent Stormcarrier there, which was interesting, but I was too busy to bother with any bounty at this point. Anyway, moral of the story is never interfere with someoen else's battle. I'm surprised I survived that at all. Beating me to within inches of my life... That was odd, and somewhat humbling. I'll have to think twice about the galaxy now. (Seriously, I've never ever seen that happen before. In any game. EVAR. But it happened. Either the AI just decided to leave me alone at the point of me being disabled and didn't fire the one last shot needed to kill, or he had other problems to deal with. But OMFG, IT WAS INSANE. YOU WOULD NEVER SEE IT COMING. XD) Out.

Or, when accessing the pulldown menus (e.g. pilots, officers) after starting a new game, the display text also disappears? This seems to be happening on all post- 30.82 under winXPYeah. Like when assigning people to certain things, the text for it disappears and stuff. 40.72 drivers, same problem.
  19. I don't really know. I put in my own music half the time I can. I'm a big big music fan. The Sims. The rock music with lyrics in simspeak. That was friggen hilarious. I like the BCM music, although I've been adding my own tunes to the mix. It's ended up with a lot of energy and stuff. More of a combat music compilation or just music that you'd expect an old mercenary to listen to, whilst hanging about Pixan. Here's my list: code:Avril Lavigne - Unwanted Blink 182 - Man Overboard Breaking Benjamin - Polyamorous Disturbed - Prayer Eminem - Lose Yourself Korn (feat. Garbage) - Freak On A Leash [Techno Remix] Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff Linkin Park - 1stp Klosr Linkin Park - By Myself Linkin Park - FOrgotten Linkin Park - Krwlng Linkin Park - Pts.Of.Athrty Linkin Park - Rnw@y Linkin Park - Runaway No Doubt - I'm Just A Girl P.O.D. - Sattelite Trust Company - Downfall Trust Company - Figure 8
  20. Sounds cool. Like one of those virtual reality development projects going on. Spiffy stuff like that's pretty cool. 21. Well, I've seen Gallion posting once in a few..... Everyone's been inactive as of late. Don't fret--most will be back before MP hits us.
  22. quote:Originally posted by DreilDrag: Also like stated below when alt-tabing the planets loose thier graphics(thier simply black holes) and all my ship icons from the bridgeviewer disappear(power, shield meters etc as well as shuttle/fighter craft icons)Yeah. It's been like that forever. Don't alt-tab. It's not the kind of game that likes it. You wouldn't alt-tab out of Unreal Tournament 2003, would you? Go into a menu, say, Tactical or Logistix, and come back to the bridge, and it should correct. (I've done it before.) If all else fails, just save the game, quit, and re-open it. It's worked for me in the past. --- I've verified that 1.0.08 is stand-alone. Like with big capital letters in the exe file that says "REQUIRES any previous version of BCM". Anywhoo. Reinstalled BCM and re-patched (skipped 1.0.07), to no avail. Same graphical glitch as before. Here's the stuff: Happens in 1024x768, 800x600, with 32bit and 16bit screen depth. I'll fiddle with the texture bit depths, just for the hell of it later. http://siteadmin.keenspace.com/~fgofa/orio...ts/PHOTO001.jpg (196k) Really bad pic. Okay. I know. But still. The particle trail is circled. http://siteadmin.keenspace.com/~fgofa/orio...ts/PHOTO002.jpg (93k) In the middle, next to the debris and hyperjump exit point. It's one of those colorized contrails such as the one used on the Stormcarrier. Another not-so-good image of this glitch. http://siteadmin.keenspace.com/~fgofa/orio...ts/PHOTO003.jpg (62k) http://siteadmin.keenspace.com/~fgofa/orio...ts/PHOTO004.jpg (61k) The best pics I have, considering there are two, and the camera actually let me zoom in this time. From both angles you can see the contrail. I'm in hyperspace at the moment of these images, heading to the Regis-IV jump point, using the Starwarrior, which uses that same red contrail. The jpeg compression killed some of the visibility of the first two pics, but the last two work around it. The glitch only happened after I installed the new RC23. During the pre-23 patches, including the RC18, the hybrid RC18, and previous patches, I didn't have this problem. I'll have to take a wild guess (even though that isn't always the best plan ), and guess that it's probably got something to do with the specialfx/graphics/camera update(s) in recent patches, such as the "specialfx particles revisions" in RC23. That's as much as I can say. BTW, with bitmap contrails set, it still happens, with the little bitmap images floating around in the same fashion.
