  1. Well, I basically picked up l33t by playing multiplayer games (way too much time on battle.net ), and just browsing the net overall. No leet translators for me. I could whip up a DTD (document type definition) for a hybrid XML/HTML/l33t, HTML (or more specifically XHTML)-style language. That would be so funny. Hehe. (Would I start with <|-|t|/|l> or just simply (null)? (took out the second one--the damn thing is being loaded as code, actually *lol*) Or even other variants? And what about a (letter k); that would most likely screw up the coding.... This is why such cool ideas never become reality, in my point of view. ) Yeah, I'm high on the medpacks again. 2. If you guys are looking for a carrier, try the Violon. It's comparable to a Super Cruiser in speed and manuverability. Like a baby BCMK2 or a super-Warmonger. If I ever have a Carrier, that would be one of the top choices for me. [ 12-31-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

  4. Hah. Depending on how many AI Raiders/Insurgents/Gammulans there are, and human players too, I'll have Fleet C&C in no time on multiplayer. The "Bounty Hunter Method" is the best, because it gives you cash along with EP (and sometimes bonus EP). Just tow enemy carriers & cruisers to a local station. You get more EP for rival-type enemies. (i.e. Ter/Mil<->Ter/Ins Ter/Mil or Ter/Ear or Ter/Ins<->Gammulan) ph34r m4 l33t sk|11z, b4by! Multiplayer is gonna be intense!
  5. Anyone experiencing extreme tearing in large models (like stations), with an nVidia card? Yeah, you aren't alone. I had this problem since I upgraded to my Geforce2 MX400 64MB card just a few days ago. I overclocked it, too. But anyways, I tried stopping overclocking, changing settings, bit depth, resolutions, and such. Did everything in the FAQ, but no avail. Did some more tweaking of settings, and well, here's the solution: Head to Display Properties->Advanced->Geforce2 MX/MX400(*)->Additional Properties->Direct3D Settings. Change Mipmap detail level to Best image quality. And you're set. (*)-That's what mine said. Look for the name of your chipset if yours is different. This is with the 23.11 XP drivers, and your mileage may vary. This is a little tip I discovered, and I noticed that it wasn't in the Troubleshooting FAQ, so I decided to post this here. And now I'll hop back into the game. Nova, over and out. [ 12-31-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  6. That's our JJ! (Edit--Wrong smiley... ) (Edit--Spelling... *ugh*) [ 12-31-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  7. Post in an already made thread. Don't make a new thread. It works. Browse to one of the existing Tech Issues topics, and hit "Post Reply". I just tested it, and it works. Once again, this is to prevent clutter. In the first days since BCM was on shelves, there were like 12 topics made in that one day. It was near-impossible to reply to all of them and it just made everyone complain more, so SC decided to consolidate them into single threads.
  8. You newbs need to learn patience. Not everyone's going to have a Sunflash in multiplayer. Get used to the Super Cruiser class of ships. Those are the ones that will most likely populate the multiplayer universe.
  9. Well then, SC, how 'bout in BCTC? It's a long way from now, so you can think about it. I mean, you're supposedly supposed to be able to interact with crew members, so why don't give every single member a name? Just a thought/wishlist item for the future.
  10. Donate Your Spare Cycles and Such..... Help humanity! Play your part, and help move cancer research along! Go to United Devices, and take a look around. It's a distributed computing program, much like SETI@home. They operate several projects, like the Intel-United Devices Cancer Research Project. This is the largest "virtual supercomputer" in the world, and you can be part of it, too and help cure cancer, improve genetic research, and whatnot. You can download the UD Agent here. (Download the Windows 2000 version, if you use WinXP.) Also, if you're interested in joining, check the team I've set up for our little Battlecruiser Community. View it here. Yeah, I've sorta been inspired to do something that helps people, since the earlier events of this year. Since I can't really do anything else to help, this is my way of helping out humanity. I suggest you guys join along. (Especially you folks that have multiple systems and/or systems that are hooked up to the internet that you don't use for gaming.) A nice little new years resolution for me to run this thing, when I'm not playing BCM or other games or resource-intensive stuff. Hope this speech didn't sound to propaganda-ish. I'll get off my soapbox now. (But join my team, please. ) [ 12-30-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  11. Tisk, tisk: but that would be cheating. Nova, over and out.
  12. If you're playing ROAM, then enemies should appear and travel about randomly in space. It's more or less like reality; a cop doesn't go after a crook all the time-he's got to wait until he finds some action first. Be patient, and travel around, and you'll find some enemies. Multiplayer is coming up in a patch. It's not in the released game. Welcome aboard.
  13. There's you, Corporal Neo, and Private Sharpy... Don't know about the cadets. So much for a head count. I've never actually seen Neo and Sharpy, but check with Greg or Blades because they might have a personal reason to not be here for a while. Keep it up, JJ.

    Off Duty

We left for home one day later than I expected. But I'm here, and I'm ready to rumble!
  15. Back from vacation! Hehe.... Playmod = my first actual first-hand test of the RANDOM!!!!
  16. Looks like I got back in time from vacation!
  17. (I'm writing this at a relative's house... Finally got enough time to hit the forums at least once. ) Let's see. I got some clothes, and cash. Right now, I have enough cash to go and get myself a GeForce2 MX400 PCI (since I don't have an AGP slot), and a processor upgrade to 800MHZ (the max for my cheap mobo); not really sure if I'm going to go through with this..... But this would be a really big improvement compared to my current stuff. Even if I do, I'll still probably be spending a whole bunch of time playing Final Fantasy 10 once I get home...... I'll talk to you all later. Nova (on vacation), over and out. [ 12-25-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

    Off Duty

I'll be out on vacation until Thursday. I might be able to post or get on IRC a bit, but it won't be anything like the usual; they don't have DSL. I'll see you all later.
  19. Well boys, I'm heading out for my vacation. Won't be back 'til Thursday, but I just might post at their house. Merry Christmas everyone!!! (And watch those newbs for me, please!)
  20. Cool, man. Damn cool. Can I say more? I'm listening to Mario '8-bit Eighties' as I type this..... Nova, over and out.
  21. Boys, what you speak of is basically the idea behind BCTC (Battlecruiser Tactical Command). Yes, it's already been thought of. The idea is to have interiors for every single ship class and station type. Some big stuff we're talking about. [ 12-20-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  22. Yep, but even if I did wait until Christmas, I don't own any of those games listed..... Ooh, and I noticed the quote of the day on VE: "See what I mean about comprehension skills? I don't understand a word of what you wrote. Derek Smart" [ 12-20-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  23. God, it's already final when you said "this weekend" earlier! You are da man, SC! Now please take a break! Or at least one of those long drives again....
