  1. You know, if it was updated November 1, then it's based on either a Press Copy, a Master Copy, or (the most likely) a bunch of plain and simple sh*t. (The thread here had quite a lengthy discussion on it earlier.) This sorta contradicts this quote: quote:And always remember: we do this just for FUN. We are against any profit or commercialisation of piracy. In fact, we BUY all our own games, as we love originals. And if you like this game, BUY it. We did! What a bunch of laughs. quote:Install Notes: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1) unrar 2) burn the .cue and .bin with CDRWin or Fireburner 3) install game 4) copy crack 5) and then play So what was that "crack" that you're supposed to install after the game installation? I mean, you don't need a CD-Key to install or play the game, until you need one of the newer patches, or multiplayer. So far this looks totally fake. Could you actually download and see the file sizes for these files (SC asked for these last time, on this thread: bcmsetup.ini datalbases.ini pte2ptedefs.ini modelsknife.3d modelstextureskitskins.bmp That should separate the lies from the actual truth. Yes, the truth is out there...... Anyway, I'd love to see someone try to get into multiplayer with a "cracked" copy. Poor fools with warez probably don't know they need the serial number to register on the DB first.
  2. Try the advice of making a Nav point a bit farther than the target. When you come out of HJ, you usually end up around 70km away from target if you're using a Cap Ship. You're probably coming too close to the planet's gravity well (usually around less than 150km), and being pulled planetside. Oh, and Fractux, Melcar, Tac, and to everyone else this may apply to: Read this thread, log into the Reg DB with your serial number you registered with, and get a "System Profile Info" link into your sig, as per SC's instructions. Just spreading the word of warning. Nova, over and out. [ 11-30-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  3. Roger that. Testing: 1, 2, 3! [Edit: And again... I left out the word "info". I'm putting it in, just in case. You know how the SC is. ] [ 11-30-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  4. Heh. If you have the PAD artifact, tapping the trigger lightly works really well. But yes, the foolish enemies end up killing their own station..... "Ter/Ins Destiny destroyed by Ter/Ins Raven"...... And I was already on my way to pressing Alt-D......... If you do an attack, try to get it down as fast as you can, then wait until you're around 1500 HP of Armor, then slowly lower your IOD power using the ";" hotkey. You should be at 10% power by the time it hits 500-600, if it lasts that long. (I've had it blow up at 1300..... Their stupid fighters missed with their missiles. ) If you've got the PAD, then do what I said. It's so much easier than having to guess and see how much power you should blast it with.
  5. quote:Originally posted by Oban: noob reporting in, have all of three days experience, lol, have had to make my own binder, with printouts to try and get a handle on this game. I suck right now but I love it. Maybe I should paint a big bullseye on my ship cause I've got a feeling I'm going to feel a little like Custer at little bighorn once I get online with you guys. What's the fastest ship again? Hmmm let me check my binder... ooops .. oh no.. incoming... aaargh. Binder and joystick drop to floor as Cmdr. Oban's ego is shattered in another mind blowing explosion. Is it possible to be a worse commander than this Resnig guy? Bring it on gentlemen. My day will come. Well, welcome aboard, Oban. I'm sure you'll get the hang of things before multiplayer...... And no, it's not possible to be worse than Resnig. At least not to my knowledge.....
  6. So, if I'm picking this up right, then 1 of these little meetings in December, and then we'll have another sometime later. Maybe Jan/Feb, so we can celebrate multiplayer! Alright, who's got the beer? [ 11-29-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

  8. quote:Originally posted by Urza: The coming Saturday, or a different one? The one he posted above: "Sunday 16th December 0800-1300 (That's Saturday December 15th 1500 to 2000 Central)". I'm good for it. So here's the candidate: Saturday/Sunday, December 15/16 4 PM-9 PM Eastern Time US (GMT -5) 9 PM-2 AM GMT 0 (For all you UKers out there. ) I'm good to go on that date. How 'bout everyone else? And where's the meeting place? [ 11-28-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  9. Now if ATI could leak some of their supposedly existant WIP good drivers...... Well, I'm reporting in. With the 1.0.02 patch, I've had 1 lockup. That was after 3 hours of play, though, so I'm leaning towards the fact that it's because my system is a POS. (At least I save often. ) No CTD's, and the only other problem I've had is the damage fx glitch, still. But the game's solid now. Great job, SC.
  10. quote:Originally posted by IceCold: Has the issue with the perscan computer been addressed? Start a new career with a firestorm carrier, launch and look at the Perscan. The personnel do not all fit onto the screen, to say nothing about prisoners, intruders, or guests. (800x600) resolution if that makes a difference. Ice Cold It's not an issue with the game. Just scroll (shrink) one of the other groupings to see the rest. --- Zuul, I've just been working from what I've picked up on the forums and throughout the internet. (I don't have an NVidia.)
  11. I still opt for the T-Shirt and jeans..... (Still an indie at heart. ) Hey Fendi! How about the hippie look? It belongs to everyone's favorite Insurgent Vice Admiral.....
  12. Don't use leaked drivers of any kind. The only NVidia drivers that are supported at the moment, are the latest official ones; 2183. If you are having problems with leaked drivers, go back to the official ones and try that before coming here.
  13. Read the thread "Explanation of BCM saved game files" at the GBS forum. It'll show you what files are what. If SC asks you for it, then follow those instructions. [ 11-28-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  14. quote:Originally posted by Sadistic: Okay.. I re-d/led the patch 3 out of the 5 times I reinstalled but it's worth another shot. You uninstalled and re-installed the game before you tried to do the patches again, right? And you did run it from the game's directory? And remember. If you uninstall the game to try to do a re-install, backup the save folder (if you have game saves you want to keep), and wipe the whole folder (that means delete the entire Battlecruiser Millennium folder) before you re-install. The patch works for me, so I have no idea what could be your holdup.
  15. If you were in a large cap ship, the HJ Transit time is extremely slow in the beginning and end of a HJ. 5 seconds doesn't bring you very far at that speed. Try it yourself, and watch your distance from something as you start to HJ and come out of HJ in a big cap ship. Takes a while for you to get momentum (depending on how far away target is). So chances are that your exit was close enough to the planet's gravitational pull.
  16. Yeah, I know. I already have all the upgrade-based Artifacts.... It's cool. I still have yet to go to New America, though. Bunnies beware.
  17. Hehe, same here. You can make a Stormcarrier go to 2100+ kps(?), with proper usage of a tow, and using tacops/the command menu. And if SC did make it to deplete more energy while towing, then I'd just rotate the 4 shuttles around.......
  18. Tell me where you're getting that stuff. I'm looking to upgrade or build a new system soon, and need to find a place with decent prices before diving in..........
  19. The SC's current plans and status, are posted here. Over and out.
  20. I'll make a pre-emptive answer to the next question Sadistic (or another newbie reading the thread) is going to ask. To replace the lost asset, you go to the Tactical Computer -> (FC/SC/OC) -> (Asset Number), and it should say something like: (Interceptor/Shuttle/ATV/so on) Destroyed (Replacement/No Replacement) Available If there's a replacement available, there should be a button to click that says Replace Asset or something of hte like. Uh, I'm writing this up by memory, so the above might be a bit incorrect, but if you fill in the blanks and make some educated guesses, you should figure it out. Nova, over and out.
  21. That's 100% cool with me, Derek. And about multiplayer. I think we can wait.... Anyway, I think most of us will be spending our time on BCM, getting frustrated trying to figure out Gallion's (near) impossible campaigns.... (Ahhh, I passed up post 800 a while earlier today!!!! Oh well, w00t for me anyway!!! ) [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  22. quote:Originally posted by Sadistic: Firstly, why can't I post a new topic? Secondly, I got a bad problem: It was working absolutely fine yesterday, I didn't change anything on my computer whatsoever. Now when I try and resume my game it freezes at the GAME LOADED OK screen. I can hear my ship sounds (I think that's what they are) or some kinds of sounds that sound like the ship. Here's my specs: win98 SE P3 733 Mhz nVIDIA Geforce2 MX w/ latest drivers SB Live! sound card 256mb RAM DX8.1 I just have the 1.0 version, the 1.0.01 patch doesn't work at all, gives me some weird error like .NAV something something at the GAME LOADED OK screen, can't remember. I couldn't find a better place to post this, since I can't make a new thread for some reason Please help... [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Sadistic ] 1.0 savegames use an oboslete save method. The 1.0.01 patch updates it to the final one that will eventually be used later, in anticipation of multiplayer. All old savegames should be deleted. The patch should have deleted yours; if you backed them up, it doesn't matter. Don't use them. Upgrade, start over, and then tell us if any problems persist. DO NOT REPORT BUGS IF YOU'RE USING 1.0, BECAUSE MANY THINGS HAVE ALREADY BEEN ADDED/CORRECTED/FIXED IN 1.0.01+. Regarding making new threads, read what the SC just said. quote:This is why we have started deleting and relocating posts. Lets try and keep the dupes to a mininum please. I don't want to have to wade through a lot of crap each time I do a forum pass, in order to get to the important issues. Then read this. (Second post.) Fill in the blanks, then you should understand. quote:Originally posted by IceCold: Well, I decided to test the PTA system and I thought, "what better place to test it than on a terran/raider installation," I brought the BC down and let the PTA system have a whack at the ground targets. After a while I noticed all the destructive power of my turrets was being brought to bear on a DJP (Which should be indestructible) rather than the other more mortal targets such as SAMs. What do you think? By the way, which programs open the .TGA screen shots? Is there any way to change the shots to .bmp within the game? Ice cold Um, not sure what to say about the PTA thing. Perhaps if your crew had better AI, it would do little better, but I'm not exactly sure. I'll let the SC take this one. Adobe Acrobat, Ulead Photo Express, and some others can open TGA files. If you don't have an image editor, you can download shareware/trial versions of some at Cnet. No, you can't change the format to BMP. Nova, over and out.
  23. Count me in. Wanna try AW? It's been a while since it's been full of life. I mean there's buildings and all, but there haven't been lots of people there... And since I haven't been there in a while, I'm dying to see what Epsilon 5 has been doing to the commander's village..... What do you think?
  24. Re-downloaded it, and it works now. Great job, SC. Did you two (Ravonaf and Mitchell) download and install that Nav Data patch? If so, try re-downloading it again. If not, then download it, just in case (you wouldn't want to CTD before you get a chance to save the game). Oh, and when you uninstall, so you can get a fresh install, delete the Battlecruiser Millennium folder that you installed the game to. (Make sure to back up savegames, if they're the newer compatible ones, your screenshots, and any other stuff you know you added in like music files and whatnot.) When you patch, copy the patch exe to the Battlecruiser Millennium folder you installed the game to, and run it from there. And once again, you might want to try the new patch.
  25. I'm exactly that, phoenix. I've been welcoming newbies and returning vets alike. And then those who used to lurk ages ago. So, what exactly don't you know about? --RTFM (Read the fine manual) --RTFA (Read the fine appendix (under docs/appendix/appendix.html in the BCM folder; there's also a start menu icon)) --Go browse the forums or use the search for information. If you can't figure out where in the manual/appendix to find something or can't find it in the forums (or both), then you can post here, or ask me. n00b.
