  1. No, really. I'm not kidding. (For those of you who actually haven't seen this by now..)
  2. Ahh yes, the inevitable photoshoppery was bound to begin sooner or later...
  3. Macross/Robotech mod for Homeworld is here.
  4. I actually like the rain too. It makes me stare at the window, rubbing my hands and chuckling to myself, knowing full well that the garden gnomes are on the move.
  5. Presuming that A) I'm actually somehow correct in my assessment (a first) that your partition is screwed, and you have nothing critical at all on that HD and don't mind dumping it and starting from scratch again, I'd advise popping in a bootable floppy and running FDisk. That'll tell you if you have any active partitions on your hard drive. If so, then I guess you suffered from dataloss... do a "Format C: /s" and start from scratch. If not, you'll need to make a partition then. Been awhile since I've re-built an HD from scratch (a long while, actually) so someone correct me if I'm wrong here. And hell, without being able to get into the BIOS, I'm still not sure if it's just a simple case of an accidental re-direction or something... what game did you try to install precisely? 6. Keep an eye out. If you spot a Sierra exec running by waving his shoe dangerously and yelling about "those damn garden gnomes", don't be surprised, but be sure to stay out of his way. (No, as hard as it is to believe, I'm not going to E3.. on account of living roughly 3 hundred zillion miles away from the area it's taking place in. But my radioactive garden gnomes will be.. BWA HAHA!)
  7. Uh. Uh oh. From the sound of that, one might assume that your C: drive partition somehow vanished into thin air or something. Anyways, assuming this isn't the case (for now), don't worry about any prompts that (don't) appear, just keep smacking the F1 and Del keys while the RAM counts up. Presuming your motherboard Doesn't Suck, it should take you into the BIOS. Edit: Ooops. Take a note Radioactive Garden Gnome #331: Wake up and re-read the posts before trying to provide tech support! Okay, so since hitting those keys I mentioned does nothing... ah... I'd go with my original theory then that your HD partition somehow got severely messed. I can't think of anything else at the moment.. [ 05-16-2001: Message edited by: Parias ]
  8. Presuming Echelon's response didn't hold the answer, also check your BIOS settings.
  9. quote:Everyone I know has problems with winME Well Epsilon, now you can say "almost everyone I know" WinMe works great for me.
  10. That'd odd. Believe it or not, my present configuration is 384MB of both PC100 and PC133 RAM. I originally had a single 128MB chip in my system, and bought a 256MB chip as well for an upgrade. I didn't expect it to work properly if I mixed 'em together on my motherboard (I have an Abit KT7-RAID), but I figured "What the hell, I could do with 384 megs" and threw 'em together anyways. Smooth as a baby's arse. [ 05-14-2001: Message edited by: Parias ]
  11. Akuma, m'lady, thou art as beautiful as thine loveliest anime characters, and as cheerful as thy radioactive garden gnom- *Gets rushed by a riotous crowd*
  12. I wouldn't call it "impossible" to run.. hell, with some luck, one might get it running after all (believe it or not, I actually got one or two Win95 only games to run under Win3.11 a long time ago). What might be overallishly meant is that Win95 wouldn't be supported, so if the game does work under the platform for you, great. If it doesn't, don't come crying. Of course, I could also be talking out of my arse here..
  13. Bored eh? "This is the operating mind of the carrier. Vessel under attack...." I'm eagerly awaiting my review copy of Echelon. From what I played of the non-english demo released a bit of time back though, it looks very impressive. Can't wait to check out the final.
  14. Hell, from what I've heard, AMD's chips ALREADY counter the P4. ..From what I've heard, of course. Anyways, my experience with AMD has been crystal-smooth so far. The only problems I've had was a lack of a bootable system (caused by a POS broken heat sink.. both processor and heat sink had to be replaced, wasn't a problem with the processor itself though), and random rebooting after that (because my 250Watt PSU was too dinky.. "I'm givin' her all she's got Cap'n!"). Aside from those 2 annoying little niggles which were more my end than anything else, my AMD Thunderbird 1.1Ghz has been sweet as sugar so far. Plus, don't P4s cost like 5 billion dollars more than an equal AMD chip or something? Okay, so I'm exaggerating, but on NCIX.Com, a P4 1.3Ghz costs at least $200 more than an equal AMD Thunderbird 1.3Ghz (in Canadian dollars, of course).
  15. Augh! No! It's found it's way here too! Thy disease continues to spread! ....Or something
  16. The SDF-1, at optimal operating efficiency would be able to smack around just about anything it came into contact with. The main gun could chew even the Colossus to pieces from far outside of it's range, and it's fighter compliment would have the advantage of maneuverability over just about anything. The only problem they'd have would be lack of shielding on them, and their hulls are practically paper thin (aside from the main character's Veritechs of course.. bwa haha). Of course, the SDF-1 might get into trouble if just about every damn ship from every game/movie was thrown at it.... Well, maybe Star Trek might have an edge. Cloaking devices would let a ship get close enough to do massive damage before the crew even realized what was happening.... and the pin-point-barrier-system isn't exactly the most efficient defense system in existence. Still though, the SDF-1 could pull it's weight in a fight, at the least, and then some.
  17. Actually, I'd think a small wing of carefully co-ordinated Battlecruisers COULD probably give a Hecate a run for it's money. Of course "carefully co-ordinated" is the key word.. they'd have to be extra careful to steer clear of the anti-fighter beams and flak turrets, but if they got into the right position, they could do some heavy damage, or at least disrupt a lot of subsystems. Of course, there's still the little issue of the bombers and fighters that would launch..... I'd have to say that I don't think even a full wing of standard Interceptors could stand against an equal wing of Trebuchet/Tornado and Kaiser/Maxim-equipped Ares fighters. Naturally you'd need the combined fleets of just about every major nearby power just to even put a dent in the Colossus of course... But, truth to be told, I don't think an accurate comparison between the BC3x universe and FS2 could be done. There's just too many differences. (Yeah, I know, you guys probably hear that argument at least once for each comparison somebody makes ) But ultimately, if you absolutely had to throw a BC Mk3 and.. say, a Deimos class destroyer together into an arena to slug it out, the BC Mk3 would be squished. It's fighters would be ripped to pieces by the flak before they could even get a few shots off (hell, even in an Erinyes I have an assload of trouble with those things.. and don't get me started on bombing!), and the BC itself would be constantly under fire from all ranges, short of hyperjumping out of the area. The main advantages the BC would have over the Deimos would be speed and cloaking (and Paul Resnig ), but that's about it. Of course, it's tough to make an accurate call here.. I'm hardly Scotty when it comes to ship mechanics, so who can say how beam and other weaponry would interact with the way the BC3x universe handles shielding, for example? Bah, I'm going in circles here, I'll just shush now [ 05-02-2001: Message edited by: Parias ]
  18. What with the sudden influx of hilarity over the past few days from the various forums I visit, I figured I'd drop in and contribute my 0.02. Clicky. If you have the bandwith, nab it, it's bloody hilarious! Subtitled, but that doesn't take away from the humor much
  19. 384 megs of RAM here.. mixed-n-matched a pair of new PC133 128MB chips with my old single PC100 128MB chip.

  21. Hint: It contains the answers to life's greatest secrets. Why is the sky blue? What makes the world go round-and-round? Why are my radioactive garden gnomes such psychotic little critters? To find the answers, one must look.... within. Or you could also try narrowing the angular confinement beam, that always works for Janeway.
